Re: fountains

From October to April the Magic Fountain is open on Fridays and Saturdays only, with music at 7 pm, 7.30 pm, 8 pm and 8.30 pm.
Since 20 November is a Friday, you are in luck.

Re: fountains

Probably be a good idea to write an email to someone that lives in Barcelona to ask about that. Belsaita comes to mind.

Her email is: Belsaita@VTmail.com

Belsaita is an excellent resource for questions on Barcelona, I agree. Also you might want to check with the hotel where you are staying in advance. They probably have information about the fountains available. I saw them in May and thought they were beyond description for their beauty. I hope you get to experience them.

----The Space Elephant----
The space elephant embodies the Dalinian symbol which was born in 1946 when the artist painted one of his most famous picture 'THE TEMPTATION OF ST.ANTONY'.
Moving thought space towards the heavens, legs stretched out and more delicate in the weightless atmosphere, the space elephant carries an obelisk, symbol of the progress of technology.

Las Ramblas are a wide tree-lined boulevard with a plenty of people walking for, a lot of flower shops, jugglers, statue men and artist of every sort.
The first stop is the Font de Canaletes. According to legend, whoever drinks from its water will never leave the city, or will at least return again some day.
This is where the fans of Barcelona soccer team clebrate their team’s victories.
By walking along Carrer Tallers, you will reach the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) and Centre de Cultura Comporania de Barcelona (CCCB).
Two very important museums.
You must not miss the new buildings in the Raval area (the old red-light district).
You also will find the traditional food market of La Boqueria and Casa Bruno Quadros an Art Deco style building.
Menjar Blanc - Almond Cream
by Danalia
for 4 persons
1/2 lb almonds, raw peeled
4 cup of water
3 oz cornflour (maizena)
1 stick of cinnamon
1 lemon, rind
1/2 lb sugar
Put the water on the flame and when it begins to boil, turn off the flame and drop the lemon rind and the cinnamon into the water. Cover, leave to soak around 5 minutes and drain. Place the almonds in the flavoured water, blend, cover and leave the mixture to soak for 4 hours.
Strain through a cloth, squeezing well to extract all the flavour of the almonds. Mix the resulting liquid little by little with the sugar and the cornflour so that there are no lumps. Heat and stir until it comes to the boil. Place into tins, leave to cool and serve cold.
Where is that parc Guel??? This way???!
by satara
We had map and we had a strong wish to see that famouse Guel parc, but going on foot up this steep mountain was too much of sacrifice..:) Anyway, it was worth climbing up (even it wasn't the right way to the parc) and seeing quiet local living home regions:)
Whole wheat breads and cookies
by merak about Forn Boix
Traditionally family hold bakery, since the 20's. whole wheat articles (bread, pizzas and cookies), pralines.
They are especially tasty and somewhat original.
Ask if they have "Pets d' Assumpta", their best. If not, they will be glad to help you whith their offers. More than average, but not so much as in "bio" shops.
