Inexpensive places to stay during summer for groups

by lomunchi

I have a group of about 10 traveling. When traveling in, say, Italy, we've stayed at Agriturismi close to the major cities and saved money had had good experiences. Are there similar options in Spain? Particularly Barcelona?

There are hundreds of accommodations here in Barcelona that are affordable. Now you need to be more specific what your budget would be per person. You are able to find hostals with breakfast (very basic breakfast, such as a small or short bar of baquette, then butter and coffee or perhaps even juice. Accommodations as such would mean you share the bathrooms, toilets, showers with others. You sometimes have your own lockers for your backpacks, at times which happens very often backpacks are left in the corridors or just by your bedside. So, there are also hostals that will offer your own bathroom, toilet and showers, however, you pay for that comfort about 50 Euros yet you could easily be in the very centre of the city, then to attract the youngesters they would put about 3 or 5 desktaps for your internet usage, at times it's free or for a minimal charge. Whatever Italy has they might have copied from Barcelona being that many times we iniciate those ideas ahead of Italy. Barcelona is super and quite westernized now, specially after the Olympics, so traveling with 10 people is not a problem although you need to make your reservations that way you are all in the same building and still your rooms would be next to each other. What you need to advise each and everyone of your ten people is first to invest on a secured MONEYBELT as not too long ago, we again witness a terrible pickpocketing in Las Ramblas. So, perhaps you need to focus and have everyone use a moneybelt (the style which you are able to secretly tuck inside your pants, or your skirt. Also, make copies of all your documents, your passports, have those 10 people travel with cheap watches, safe guard their mobile phones as those happens to be one of the favourites of the pickpockets, those fancy mobile phones! Get back and be more specific on how much your budget maybe and if you prefer to be in the center, which means it would save you money getting to the very touristic area. Also if your time permits check our homepage as we spend much time naming ways for tourists to see the city the most economical means! HAVE A HAPPY AND SAVE AND MEMORABLE HOLIDAY!

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Walk the entire length of the...

by Kidproton

Walk the entire length of the Ramblas on one side, then back again on the other. Every little shop, every little kiosk, and every little stand (especially on weekends when political parties set up shop and distribute literature) is worth looking at. DO NOT buy anything. Chances are the same item is available two blocks east or west of the Ramblas at half price. And keep your valuables in check. BE paranoid. Fondest memory... Honestly it would have to be waking up in the middle of a little plaza in the 'Barrio Gotico' at 4:00 AM with NO clue as to how I got there. That whole weekend is a ver surreal and entertaining tale.

Barcelona Es Teva

by Klod5

As a result, Barcelona today is very much alive - a city bursting with new pride and self-confidence, which cannot fail to excite and delight. So before you leave, consider the city's motto - Barcelona Es Teva ('Barcelona Belongs to You') - and drink from the famous Canaletes fountain on La Rambla. It is said that after just one sip, you will fall under the city's spell and are sure to return again, and again… and again.

CATEDRAL DE BARCELONA. The...

by Tolik

CATEDRAL DE BARCELONA. The church was begun in 1298, but facade was not completed until 19th century. The cathedral is dedicated to Santa Eulalia, martyred by the Romans for daring to prefer Christianity, and her tomb rests in a crypt beneath the high altar. The cathedral’s magnificent 14th-century cloister has magnolias and palm trees growing in the middle and ...gees waddling around the periphery. If they disturb the tranquility of the scene, they do so for a purpose - the geese have been kept here for over 500 years to reflect the virginity of Santa Eulalia.
At noon on Sunday you can see 'sardana', a Catalonian folk dance, performed in front of the cathedral.

Have a Religious experience . . .

by acjack

Take the train from Barcelona around 30 miles to the Monastery of Montserrat to see the 12th century 'Black Virgin'. From the train you'll take a cable car up the mountain, it is a very dramatic ride. Even if you're not religious, this is an experience to have. I highly recommend staying the night at the only hotel at the top of the mountain (Abat Cisneros Hotel). It allows you to experience the sunrise from a wonderful vantage point and a chance to hike and explore the area. The hotel is around $50-80 a night, make sure you get a room with a front facing window.

Every Saturday and Sunday about 50 painters exhibit their work on the lovely place just beside Placa del Pi.

All the paintings are for sale and it is that for a reasonable price. I don't know if its true ...
