Bargain price, great location!

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 13, 2007

The Rey Don Jaime I is ideally located, literally only 1 minute from the metro and within 5 minutes walk from the Ramblas, Barri Gotic, the town hall square, cathedral and many of the other main tourist sights. It's on a street that's busy enough to make you feel safe walking back there on a night, but quiet enough to let you get a good night's sleep. The rooms are basic en-suites but immaculately clean, although the beds aren't the best ever. There is 24 hour reception, and the staff are helpful. There are several floors, but there's a lift so that's not a problem! Most rooms at the back have a small balcony looking onto a small street (C/ Llibreteria, if I remember correctly?) - if you leave the balcony doors open at night you can hear the florists etc opening their ships in a morning, but I didn't find that a problem at all. The hotel is also a safe walking distance from bars, pubs and the night bus.

Unique Quality: Fabulous location, especially for the money.

Directions: 1 minute away from the Jaume I metro. The road it's on connects the Barri Gotic to the Ramblas via the town hall square.

Well located no air con or fan!

Bad (2.0 of 5.0 stars)

It was an OK stay, the hotel is definitely well located by being a couple of blocks from las ramblas. decent room for 3 people but BEWARE of going there in the summer as there is no air con or fan in the rooms. and prefer rooms at the back of the hotel as they don´t face the (killer) afternoon sun.

Unique Quality: - location location location (las ramblas at stone´s throw)
- 5 seconds from the metro Jaume I.

How do you find out from the Newspaper from Holland if Dutch nationals had legionairs disease from hotels in Santa Ponsa in particular the apart hotel Jardin Del Sol

  • GD2005 May 19, 2014 at 12:39 AM

The reason why I need this information in October 2000 there was an outbreak of Legionaires disease at Aparthotel Santa Ponsca because they failed to change there water tanks when the place was renovated which resulted a woman being on life support for 5 weeks. This was a British national I would like to find out if any Dutch nationals were involved as the woman involved is my mum and has never been the same again.

I see. I can only suggest that you contact the Dutch Ministry for information, though I suspect that any relevant information they have about individuals will be confidential.
