Good Hotel Right On La Rambla

Stayed here in April 2006 with my 16 year-old son.

Room on the second floor with a view of La Rambla (See pics).

No problem with noise...Room has true double windows (Two completely seperate windows - one slides and the other swings open). Combine that with some heavy black-out curtains and its very easy to sleep until late in the morning.

Unique Quality: Location, Location (You know the rest.)...

Lots of street performers in frony of hotel...

Close to some decent pubs along La Rambla...Although my son liked the beers in the hotel vending machine.

A block away from Mercat De La Boqueria...awesome Farmers market...for cheese, breads and meats. (Great for a snack with a couple of San Miguels before that 10pm dinner.)

Barcelona

Stayed here for 5 nights, Room clean and tidy facing onto the Rambles, sat watching all the hussle and bussle. Double, double glazed so very quiet.
Staff very polite and helpfull.
I really just book a hotel to sleep , but with comfort. Very rarely use any other amenities,
Would recomend this hotel for all of the above, but mostly for the location.

Good location, good views, but a bit ordinary

This hotel is OK. It is ordinary in a bit dull way.

But you can get a nice view if you hang out of the window. And the location is terrific.

The best thing is the breakfast. The food is ordinary, just like the rest of the hotel, but sit by the window - and you will get a very nice view of La Rambla. You are a few meters off the ground, so you can see the lively street from a great position. Better than most the cafes around this great street.

Unique Quality: Nice view of La Rambla while you eat your breakfast.

Top Hotel, Great Location, Try It!

We stayed here in July 2004, and wow, you simply cannot ask for a better-placed Hotel, bang where it’s happening! (on the infamous Ramblas). Loads of good Bars/Restaurants all within a stone's throw.

We found the Hotel to be clean and tidy, with efficient, cooperative and friendly staff.

The general quality of the rooms/hotel exceeded our expectations by far, given the rate we paid.

The bedrooms are adequate in size, for a City Centre Hotel, all with AC, good size/quality clean Bathroom/WC, and a nice large walk in wardrobe with room safe, and Colour Sat TV. Tho some rooms don’t have a good street (La Rambla) view, so ask for room at the front of the building (but this will be noisier if you leave the windows open).

Breakfast buffet is good; with good choice, help yourself as much as you want to eat.

The Reception staff were SO accommodating, and helped us out as we'd (a party of 8 guys on a stag) inadvertently booked Doubles rather than Twins, so on arrival we asked if they could change our booking, they said they were fully booked and that it would be very difficult to do this, however, they pulled out all the stops for us and within the hour had changed our rooms so that we all had beds to ourselves!

I would thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel, and would undoubtedly stay again when visiting Barca.

Not going to mention much about the Ramblas that hasn’t been said before, except to say, yup, believe the hype! It's a great place for young, old, single and couples, however put on your streetwise hat, because there are hustlers working the Ramblas and you could easily fall prey to pickpockets, 'street magic' hustlers and also, (late at night) the "ladies of the night", so BEWARE!!

Unique Quality: Good Staff attitude, and simply the best location on the Ramblas you could hope for.

Las Ramblas - Hotel Royal

I went to Barcelona with my boyfriend and we were intending to stay in Las Ramblas, on the internet we found Hotel Royal, and its exactly what we wanted. Its right in the middle of the beautiful streets, and at a low cost to.

Unique Quality: It was a really nice room with a stunning bathroom, really nice place to relax. Unfortunatly no view, but when you stand outside the hotel your right in the middle of las ramblas.

Well, actually I don't know...

Well, actually I don't know exactly how the accomodation in Barcelona is, because I have an appartment here ;-)
I have heard of some very good hotels (of course there are excellent hotels in Barcelona, but you just should look for a cheap one...). I think the Royal Hotel is a very good one (Les Rambles, near Plaça Catalunya).

More about Royal Hotel

O.K

Not a 4 star by American standards. Great central location, but it´s an older hotel with no real lobby and still uses old fashioned keys and has no addl locks, so may not be best for those worried about safety.
The rooms are nice but extremely small for a 4 star. Also my room had an awful view, ask to be facing La Rambla!

A FABULOUS FIND FOR A GREAT PRICE1

We loved this hotel! Clean, modern and intimate with the absolute PERFECT location, directly ON La Rambla. At the corner was Placa Cataluyna, with access to Bus Turistic, and through a narrow winding street was the Cathedral in the Barri Gotic district...which we stumbled upon in our explorations.

La Rambla is alive with actors, mimes, dancers and human statues....but the double paned windows of the hotel prevent street noise from invading your rest.

Front desk staff was friendly and helpful and all spoke English fluently

Taxi from the airport cost 20 euros plus tip.

Practice your Catalan-most people don't use Spanish or English in restaurants and shops!

Very very happy

by A TripAdvisor Member

We just returned from a two-night trip to Barcelona and stayed at this hotel. My criteria were a quiet and clean hotel with a comfortable bed on Las Ramblas. I chose the Royal solely on the basis of the reviews on this site and I must say they were very accurate and we were very happy. We were on the 4th floor, overlooking the Ramblas and when the double glazing was shut you couldn't hear a thing. The bed was a little too firm for my taste but I still slept well. The room was a decent size and very clean and the air conditioning was good. Staff were friendly. The only slight downside was that - as people have said - the walls were thin and door-banging could be a problem. However, I'm very aware of these things and they didn't cause me a major problem. I'd definitely stay there again.
