Solyk Guest House

Very trendy and comfortable

Solyk is located way in the Gothic Quarter or Barri Gotica as it is known. My wife and i got a taxi from Barcelona Sants (the main train station) to the Solyk. The cab fair was very reasonable.
On arrival you ring the buzzer on the massive door and Philippe lets you in. The reception is on the 4th floor and you check in.
Once checked in Philippe showed us our room which was very minimal but so clean and fresh and very modern. It consisted of a bed, a couple of shelves and something to hang your clothes on. There was also access to our own balcony (all other tenants can get to a seperate shared balcony on request) which was sooo nice. We had a good view over some of Barcelona and it just felt like a good atmosphere.
We had our own bathroom because we were the only two people staying this week (late September) but we would have had to share with 3 other rooms. That said, the bathroom was super clean and it would have been cleaned daily.
The hotel is the perfect place to stay if you want to dive straight into Barcelona life. It is not far from the Ramblas (a little overated) or beach and is surrounded by superb bars, restauarants tapas, nightclubs............the list goes on.
Many people complain about noise in the hotels of Barcelona but you just have to live with this as the city is 24 hour. People come here for nightlife and others for daylife. Thats just life!!!!
I would certainly recommend this hostal to anyone who wants a clean, trendy, fresh and fun place to stay in Barcelona.
One last thing. Philippe is a really nice guy who will always help you out and give advice.He can not do enogh for you. He knows some really good places to eat and to go out clubbing. He made our stay very warm and welcome and we thank him for that.

Unique Quality: Facilities are basic in the Solyk but who cares when you're in Barcelona.
Solyk is one of the cleanest hotels i have been to in ages. Its also modern. Anyone who likes the Ikea look will love this place.
The views and atmosphere on the balcony make this place wonderful. I drank a few Estrella's on the balcony and loved it.
Solyk is very central. If you want to see the sights, eat in restaurants or go clubbing then this is the place.
