The east vicinity of La Rambla... by Pegasus74
The east vicinity of La Rambla is a network of narrowly old cobblestone streets where human traffic is almost always at its peak. Many of which are lined with bookstores, artisan shops, fabric stores and of course snack houses. Before you concentrate too much on shopping, I would suggest you first head towards the majestic La Seu Cathedral which is endowed with imaginative and inspiring artwork. This Gothic edifice was erected in Barri Gotic, a Gothic quarter inhabited from Roman times. It is absolutely spectacular at night and even more enchanting during Christmas eve. The cathedral cloister, which encloses a lush central garden with palm trees, ducks and magnolias, were decorated with holy sculptures depicting the exuberant moment when the child was born. Through the beautiful arches that surrounds the garden, I witnessed doves circling the tower of the cathedral, which I thought was perhaps the best highlight of my visit. The Romanesque chapel of Santa Llucia, which connects the garden, held hundreds of worshippers and curious tourists when the Christmas Mass was conducted.
