I've noticed that free walking tours have become quite popular in some european cities. The ones I have been on have all been witty, informative, and from what I can tell historically accurate.

Here's the main section of the convenient metro system in Barcelona. The green line L3 from the Sants railway station will take you instantly to the start of Las Ramblas at Drassanes,all the way to Lesseps up north to Parc Guell. The fare is really cheap.
