buses from Cadaqués to/from Girona etc.

by jmaraldo

Are there buses or other public transportation from Cadaqués to neaby towns & sights like Girona, Castelló d’Empúries, Empúries, Peralada (Medieval Castle), L’Escala, Cap de Creus , Figueres, Pyrenees?
Any hints on getting around this area without renting a car? Thanks!

There are buses to/from Cadaques from nearby towns, but they are few and far between, so make sure you check the timetables. The bus company is Sarfa:
www.sarfa.com. The road from Roses to Cadaques is spectacular, but not for those who suffer from vertigo!

You can at least get a bus to Girona and Figueres and Barcelona. They had a little touristy train (really a bus) running to Cap de Creus, but might be that it only runs in the summer season. You can also do a lovely walk to Cap de Creus. And remember to stop at Portlligat, 15 min walk from the Cadaques centre, and visit the Dali house museum: www.salvador-dali.org/museus/portlligat

Travel Tips for Cadaqués

From Roses to Cadaques

by DMcD

Went way out of the way to get to Cadaques at the urging of a friend. It was o.k. but much smaller and slower paced than I had imagined. Reminded me of Avalon or the Istmus on Catalina Island in California. Got lost and happened upon Dali's home (over a hill and down a ravene). Surprisingly , they have a very good likeness of the Statue of Liberty as you enter the town (last thing I expected to see there). The terraced hillsides surrounding the steep entry road from Roses give evidence of a vaste olive growing economy from the distant past (now abandoned). If you want a sleepy seaside village , this is it (at least in the off-season). Roses had bigger beaches and an ancient Roman citadel to visit.

DALI’S HOUSE IN PORTLLIGAT

by arlequin_g

Dali and Gala bought a small fisherman’s house and as they were gettimg more money they bought the ones next to it until they made this big house. It has turned into a museum and if you want to visit it you have to schedule. From the house you can see some landscaes which inspired Dali and some of them can be seen in his works.

OTHER INTERESATING POINT

by arlequin_g

The poing you see in the photo is other of my favourite sites in Cadaques. From here you have a great view of the houses and church and if you look on the right you see the coast and the houses along it. On the lefft side you find some interesting shops, you see a hippy style in them and the stuff they sell. You can buy cloths or other decoration things.

If only it were sunny!

"2 Nights of Tranquility"

My boyfriend and I and another couple came w/ us to spend two nights here. This was our base for going to El Bulli the 2nd night.

"Willing the Sun to Come Out Does Not Work"

We were planning to go snorkeling and kayaking here, but it was so windy and cold the one full day we had here we couldn't. The water was amazingly clear for such a overcast day and I could only image how beautiful it would've been if the sun just came out to take a peek at us!

time for art and life

"wonderful for diving, looking art and only have fu"

the little town Cacaques is placed in the north of spain, just behind the border to france.

"no all - inclusive"

you will not find big Hotels there or All-inclusive-Clubs, but very nice little pensions, hotels or campgrounds . . .

"Dali"

on every step in the town, you will meet Salvatore Dali, who lived long time in Port Ligat, the old harbour of Cadaques. His house today is a museum. Also you can see his pictures in Figueras, in his own, great Museum . . . .
