Need some transport advice please.
by redstephie
My daughter needs to get from Empuriabrava to Girona airport on Tuesday morning. She plans on getting a taxi to Figueres train station, a train to Girona, then taxi or bus to the airport. She has a bad leg so can't walk far hence the taxis!
The Sarfa bus is a possiblity but it gets into the airport 40 minutes before checkin closes so I think that's cutting it a bit fine.
Is there a ticket desk at Figueres train station where she can buy her train ticket or is it all self service machines? What tariff should she ask for?
Any other helpful tips would be much appreciated as she's returning on her own and only speaks a little Spanish.
Thanks so much.

I make it about 70 kms from Empuriabrava to Girona airport. Not sure about getting a taxi from Empuriabrava directly to the airport but may cost roughly €70. Perhaps if you know someone local it could be 'negotiated'.
Somehow this may seem a lot of money but would ensure that this journey can be completed easily. And anyway you are spending money on a taxi to Figueres and some other transport to the airport.
Have you researched the local buses. According to the Spanish Airport web site for Girona (at www.aena.es) there is a bus from Empuriabrava to the airport leaving at 18.35 and reaching the airport at 19.50. I assume this is the bus referred to? I think cost is €7.80
(see http://www.sarfa.es )
According to the AENA website the other bus operator is called BARCELONA BUS or refer: http://www.barcelonabus.com/ and they appear to have an earlier bus leaving Empuriabrava 10.45 which stops at Figueres at 11.05 and reaches the airport at 12 Noon. Details on this:
http://www.sagales.com/pubdocs/1160_aeroport-girona-costa-brava---figueres---empuria-brava---roses-01-07-a-31-08-2009-06-01.pdf
If money is tight then it may have to be the earlier bus?
Not sure about trains. The airport is 12 kms south of Girona and doen't have a train station attached so you would need to go to Girona town.
Travel Tips for Figueres
No bags allowed
by kazander
The Dali Museum does not allow you to bring in backbacks, or large bags. This meant I could not bring my camera bag! I had to pick 2 lenses (I did not have big pockets) carry my camera around and ask my friend to hold the other lens everytime I took a picture. No flash photography allowed.
next time better pockets!

Dali museum

The Salvador Dali museum is stunning, so much to see. I'm not really a big fan of art galleries but found this one really facinating. We travelled down from the south of france and it was well worth the visit.
A man who loved his wife

You will find various forms of pictures and paintings of Gala, Dali's wife in this museum. This is one of my favorites. Also, there is a castle in Pubol called the Gala Dalí Castle Museum-House where they lived and where Gala is buried.
Church of Sant Pere
by Mahieu
Next to the main entrance of the Dali museum, you can find the Sant Pere church. The view is much nicer if you go the other way around (see picture). It was probably raised on the site of a former early Christian church during the 10th-11th century. Towards the end of the 14th century King Peter the Ceremonious ordered the construction of a new church in Figueres, and a Gothic-style church was raised over the romanesque building. At the end of the 19th century the dome was rebuilt. And also during the Spanish Civil War and WW II, the church was severely damaged.
