Dali

Would I ever go to Figueres without Dali?
No! For sure!
It seemed a nice place but... with what to attract a tourist without Dali?
I tried to read, to search something else, in a not so small city - more than 40000 inhabitants but... everything leads to Gala foundation, which means Dali.
Anyway, this single reason is more than enough to a visit: since you're in Costa Brava or nearby, there's no excuse!
"Apre ski"

Ahhhh, this was the most pleasant part of visiting Figueras.... was just several kilometers away from the city... Spain is just full of such wine houses, where one can taste different sorts of wine and then buy those you liked, however, as a rule, after excessive tasting tourists can hardly recollect their own names, not to tell about buying something....
Salvador Dali's Museum
by Hi-TowerUK
A must see is this! Dali's museum is full or his surrealist works of art. Some of them make no sense at all, some of them are plain ridiculous but the museum has to be seen to be believed! Don't miss it!
Dali was obsessed by bread! It was said that on his first visit to the US he stepped off the plane with a loaf of bread on his head. The photo clearly shows what appears to be varnished loaves of bread on the outside of the building!
Dali was a real joker. You have to see the inside of this place to believe it. He must have had an amazing sense of humour!
Be aware that the museum can get very busy during the summer season. This means lot's of queues and high temperatures can make it very stuffy inside. It's a good idea to visit early spring or even in the winter when it is quieter.
Mae West in Figueres
by ozalp
Dali had seen Mae West when he had been in US. He must be really impressed, cause he created something realy strange to describe her. The lips are actually a couch. This installation named as "Face of Mae West Which Can Be Used as an Apartment ".
There was a long line for seeing this, we waited for 10-15 minutes.
Dali and Gala
by catnl
i love ithis museum, the building is a piece of art itself. On the site of Dali is some great info about life of Salvatore Dali and his wife Gala. She was a divorced woman with child and when he kept continuing seeing her, he was neglected by other painters since at that time it was a disgrease(i hope i spelled that right)..
In the museumshop u can buy lots of souvenirs, i bought a keyring and my friend gave me a beautifull agenda full with pictures:-)
