A VT member wrote the following comment about visiting Figueres:
Teatre Museu Dali by Mundus
The museum itself its the largest surrealistic object in the world. It occupies the building of the former municipal theater, a 19th century construction which was destroyed at the end of the Spanish Civil War. Dali said: "Where, if not in my own city, should the most extravagant and solid examples of my art remain, where else then? The municipal theater, or what's left of it, seemed to me to be very appropriate for three reasons: the first, because I am eminently a theatrical painter; the second, because the Theatre is in front of the church where I was baptized; and the third, because it was precisely in the lobby of the theater that I had my first exhibition of paintings". Opening Hours: 10:30 - 18:00 (from 1st October to 30th June) 09:00 - 20:00 (from 1st July to 30th September) Closed on 1st January and 25th December and every Monday between 1st October and 30th June (except on holidays and festivals' eves)
