Sword Shop

by peterwillson

I am on holiday in Llafranc and want to buy a sword for ceremonial duty back in England. Have you got an idea where I can get one in Girona or near by on the Costa Brava

Re: Sword Shop

by hawkhead

You do realise that you will have to bring it back in hold luggage? And there might possibly be squeals and hiccups anyway?

Re: Sword Shop

There should be not a problem carrying it in hold luggage. The problem will be finding a sword in Girona or nearby in this area that's not a plastic toy sword.

As Pedro, I was to suggest you to ask the the tourist office, sure it will be not the weirdest question they received. But definitely the only place in Spain known for sword-making is Toledo.

I's say you have a lot more chances to find it on eBay.

I am driving back so no problem with luggage. As the weather was bad yesterday went for a drive down the coast and found a shop selling swords in Tossa, however they were straight out of Lord of the Rings and looked like they were suitable for a Dark Lord to carry. Just wanted a plain sword!

Thanks for the suugestions if you think of any where please let me know

Travel Tips for Girona

great city

by damionk

We have travelled to Girona now a few time, get your bus ticket from the desk in arrival just on the right hand side before you got out of the building, then cross road to catch bus make sure you get a reyurn ticket its cheaper.

Good luck, next time you go try Girona city its great and 15 mins on bus

The Gardens

by Malecka

this is just a part of the gardens in the old part of Girona… There are steps that take you there from the Wall...
On your walk, you will actually get to see the so-called Gardens of John Lennon - no idea what the story is about... In any case another beautiful spot in this town.

Breezy in the winter

by bpwillet

We were only going for a short trip and spending most of our time in Barcelona. If you want to store your luggage, size will be an issue. The lockers are quite convenient in the train station and cost only about 4Euro to use. We were both glad to have scarves and warm coats with us in Girona. It is much more breezy there and higher in the mountains. It can get quite warm in the summer months though. I always try to dress in layers and that usually helps. Girona is very very picturesque. I am very much into photography and I am glad that now a days I am using a digital camera. If you like taking pictures and think there will be lots to shoot, I would highly recommend bringing a few rolls of film. If you don't or you run out, there are plenty of stores where you can purchase more. With all the varients of street angles and walking surfaces, you want to be sure you have good shoes on.

Bus or train

by Malecka

Ok, so I took a Bus from Barcelona.
IT'S ESTACION NORD, in Barcelona, and the company BARCELONA BUS has three buses a day to and from Girona. One way ticket: 9,50 euros; a return one: 16 euros.
Buses are normally almost empty. So...
Or a train - much more frequent.

The Train and the Bus station in Girona are one next to the other, and pretty much centrally located.

Enjoy a meal!

by Nathalygiro about Le Bistrot

It's situated in an old reconstructed building where you can still see the tipical architecture. The ambience is good and the people are friendly. Anyway, the food is great (pizza with round loaf, so nice, and salads, meat, pasta...)
