Have you considered the train ? You can get from Girona into Barcelona Sants station easily enough. And then take a train to Pamplona. If you look at www.renfe.com and input each sector then you can find the best timings.

Re: From Girona to Pamplona

The ever-reliable and accurate bahn.de gives train times and details:

http://www.bahn.com/i/view/overseas/en/index.shtml

Journey takes from around 6 hours, with a change at Barcelona Sants.

The Spanish railway website:

http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html

will give you train times, details and (possibly) fares in English. You may be able to book your tickets through this site, if you wish.

There is also a long-distance bus option, with a change of bus in Zaragoza, but the journey time is longer. Times, info and booking in English here:

http://www.alsa.es/portal/site/Alsa

By bus: connection at Zaragoza. Check www.alsa.es

By train: connection at Barcelona. Check www.renfe.es

Travel Tips for Girona

Jewish Quarter (The Call)

by KiNyA

The Jewish Quarter of Girona (The Call) is a collection of narrow streets (and many steps) surrounding Carrer de la Forca, where today practically anything can be purchased. On the other hand, in Medieval times, it was a leading Jewish cultural center. Today its reflection can be seen at the Bonastruc ca Porta Centre, which contains the Museum of History of the Jews and the Nahmanides Institute.

In the hearf of the quarter there is the City Museum, specialized in the history of the city of Girona.

Cathedral Holy Mary at Girona

by catnl

Holy Mary's Cathedral.

The global building is on Gothic style built in the site of the ancient romanesque shrine, the one which at the same time was built on a visigothic shrine , probably of the VI century, and of a Roman shrine devoted to Apollo. The works of the Gothic shrine were begun in the year 1312, according to the project of three naves in the purest French Gothic style. The Cathedral of Girona is the broadest of the world architecture: 50 m of long, 22,8m of broad and 35m of high. About the central ship are located 29 decorated chapels for the most part in baroque style. The cloister and the tower of Charlesmagne ancient belfry, they are the only remains of the romanesque Cathedral that are preserved. In the foreign part, the magnificent perron, the largest of the baroque era, it is of the s.XVII. The principal facade, also baroque, it is considered one of the better works of stone of the baroque Catalan.. This info was taken from:
http://www.girona-net.com
The picture is mine and u can see the wall of the cathedral and the square.
We had to walk about 30 min. from the starting point upto the old centre.

AMPURIAS (Catalan Empuries) -...

by Janina_B.

AMPURIAS (Catalan Empuries) - the name derives from the Greek for 'trading station'. It's the oldest Greek (6 c BC) and then Roman (2c BC) settlement on the Iberian Peninsula. All that remains today is a
maze of partially excavated foundations (only some 25% have been excavated so far). What you see in the picture is the Roman part of the excavations.
You can see well-preserved floors of some of the main rooms paved in black and white mosaic (1st century BC).
