    Very friendly hotel

I arrived without a booking. The reception man was very helpful and friendly. The room was en suite, comfortable bed ,tv etc. Breakfast was basic. The rate for room and breakfast was 48 euro. This hotel is , if you arrive by train is 5 minutes, leave the station area cross the road turn right, then first left, then first right.

Unique Quality: Because of the friendly staff it is a place i would stay again .

Travel Tips for Girona

Bayonoles, provence Gerona

by catnl

The lake is of karstic and tectonic origin: the underground waters, coming from Alta Garrotxa, melt the materials in the soil -gypsums-, thus creating an underwater cave which inevitably sinks and lets water reach the surface. This explains the origin of the lake, of the waters which feed it, as well as the continuous sinkings and the consequent pools produced in the area. Five irrigation ditches on the south-east side act as overflows (about 43200 cubic metres of the water forming the river Terri come from the lake). Its maximum length is 2134 m; as far as depth is concerned, the maximum is 40 m and the average 15 m, though a few spring funnels reaching 132 m have been found. It forms a water body in the shape of an irregular eight, measuring over 17 hm3. Accept for the boat there is no noise at all, just a beautifull view on the lake.
The guide told us, in autumn and spring birds will come and stay here for a few days to rest and then fly again Africa.

Girona is in Spain, but more so in Catalunya - and you can tell by the language spoken. Catalan is widely used in spoken as well as in the written form.

Very often you will find signs in both Catalan and Spanish - plus maybe one or two other languages!

Catalan is a Romanic language. It has common aspects with Spanish - such as its morphology - and French - such as its phonetics and some vocabulary. Quite interesting to compare!

Passeig de la Muralla

Ok, I was told that you can walk around the old town walls and do the tour of almost all the city like that, but somehow I kept getting lost halfway :-)))
Nevertheless, I saw some nice views, especially the one in the picture. It was taken close to Plaça Sant Domenec, close to the university. You can climb a tower and there you go: a splendid view offered to you, for free!

Airport bus

Incoming flights are met by several buses, the short journey into Girona and the longer one into Barcelona itself is operated by a company called "Barcelona Bus"
Buy your ticket in the arrivals hall, return tickets are valid for 30 days.

Here u can have great coffee and more

by catnl about Bar: Duran Bar

When we left the bus we went to a beautifull street with lots of streets and we had a break before we went up to the cathedral.
Joze and i went to a bar cause we had a great breakfast before and we ordered coffee. Its a very nice bar where u can eat as well. The waitress was very friendly but her english and my spanish wasnt great, so we had to talk a lil before she understood how to serve an Irish Coffee.
At first she gave coffee with a glass full with ice cubes next to it....:-)
Iasked her to put some whiskey in as well and she did, we didnt pay much just 4 euro! They served nice fresh various baken bread, not expensive at all.
