Lovely clean hotel, friendly staff,.,., however in gerona itself we went on a girlies weekend hen night, just 5 of us altogether so we wern,t in a big noisy group, lets just say we were not welcome and we couldnt find any nightlife what so ever, the spaniards were not impressed with us english, we were made to feel very uncomfortable, the only friendly people we could find was in the hotel itself and in a irish bar!!!!! lovely historic scenery.,., but not a nice friendly, outgoin fun place at all to be especially if your out for sum gud times!!! If we could of picked the hotel up and put it in another destination it would of been fab !!!! NEVER RETURNIN AGAIN .,..,.,.,.,..,.,..,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,..,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.

Unique Quality: couldnt fault the hotel or friendly staff !!!!!!!!

ideal location

I choosed this hotel because of its location, right next to the old town and in walking distance from the train station too. The staff was helpful and provided us with a map and show us the basic sights (although the main Tourist Office is 2’ away anyway).

The room was simple, big and clean and we didn’t care that much because we only wanted something simple for just one night. We payed 75 euros for a double ensuite room. Breakfast wasn’t included but it costs 8 euros per person on the buffet. Free wi-fi in the room was also helpful.

a comfortable hotel

I stayed here for two nights in January 2009.The hotel is very central and the old town is just over the river.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, i was in a single room which was of a reasonable size, with a television, telephone and en suite bathroom.
The breakfast is served from 07.30 to 10.30 and is a buffet service. There is no hot food available but a wide choice of cheese, cold meats, cereals etc.
I would certainly come back here.

A great base

This was a terrific base for a four-day stay in Girona. Very comfortable room (with air conditioning!) and ideally located for exploring the old city. I would happily stay here again.

Ideal location for exploring old part of the city

For it's location (just off the Pont de Pedra) this hotel offers outstanding value. Fairly small rooms, but comfortable and very clean. En suite bathroom and TV. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast (not included in price) served until about 10.30am, plenty of places nearby to eat though. I'd definitely stay here again.

excellent location for old centre

This hotel was basic but ideally placed for viewing the old town. It was relatively cheap. Breakfast was extra, but there are plenty of places nearby to grab breakfast. The lack of air conditioning was a real down point as it was especially hot during our stay.

Unique Quality: no real outstanding qualities. just a good hotel in an ideal place.

Hotel Peninsular

Rather small hotel in the medieval centre of Girona, next to one of the shopping streets ( Carrer S. Clara) and very close to the Rambla de la Libertat. The staff is friendly and rooms are very clean. I don't know what happened before I arrived, but the room smelled like they had been cleaning for 5 days. Very fresh, but also rather disturbing -:) After I opened the window, the smell luckily went away.

Unique Quality: city center,
10 minutes walk from the train and bus station,
nice breakfast buffet (not included in the price)

More about Hotel Peninsular

Impossible

by A TripAdvisor Member

Sirs,
A group of 16 persons travelled today from Budapest to Girona and got reserves in the Girona Hotel Peninsular. I am trying to find out their email address and it is just impossible. And this in XXI. Century. There are lots of information, but no way to make a contact with this hotel. What is the reason of this ? Are they affraid of contacts or they just do not wish to be overcharged with another additional service for their guests ? And what to do, if some relatives from a guest wish to make an urgent contact ? Or we must learn that using this hotel communications are just not important ? Probably business people shall not use the hotel.

Great value!

by TripAdvisor Member Alan07

At 50 euros a night (which is what I paid) the Peninsular is great value. My room and bathroom were both spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also excellent. The hotel is right in the centre of the city, so makes an ideal base. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

It's on Carre de Barcelona no.22 just 20 secs walk from the bus/trains stations. I was there Wed. They don't take credit cards tho. Not sure about Peninsular Hotel but look on Mapquest site. If you do go see if there's any shops that do take cards please, would like to know.
