Hotel Rull: Out of season - great value for money

by MikeBird

I was on a 5 night birdwatching trip with 3 other blokes. We wanted somewhere central to stay in the Ebro Delta and we were looking for good value for money. At 32Euros each a night for bed and breakfast in a single room I think we found excellent value for money at this hotel.

The 3*, independent hotel is located in the town of Deltebre, which is on the northern banks of the Ebro River. We had terrific access to the main birdwatching sites in the area. It's not far from the motorway south from Barcelona and Tarragona so, from the airport, we reached the hotel within less than 2 hours.

My room was perfectly comfortable with twin beds and a very spacious bathroom that had all the complimentary toiletries. There was a TV but I didn't watch much of it.

Breakfasts were a little on the basic side but perfectly satisfactory. There was a range of yogurt, pastries, fruit, bread, cheese and cooked meat with juice & coffee/tea. On Sunday they splashed out and provided some local semolina dishes and sweet cakes. Altogether we were made to feel very welcome. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel but we thought the menu looked expensive so we ventured into town for our evening meals.

The only disappointment was that the swimming pool was closed in the winter but at that price I couldn't complain.

If you're on a budget but don't want to slum it then this Hotel will serve your needs very well.

Out of season ( January 2012) this Hotel was extremely good value for money. Unfortunately I cannot say what prices are like in the higher season

Hola,

I will be driving to the Silken Hotel from Tossa De Mar. Could you please
send me the directions to get to the Silken Hotel in Platya d'Aro? (pictures
would be even better!)

Gracias,
Peter

-----Response ------------
Hello Mr. Peter,

You can visit our website and you'll find the direction there, but you go
direction Llagostera and then Sant Feliu de Guixols, after Sant Feliu you'll
find Platja d'Aro

Thanks,

Ferran Moliné

Right on the beach.

Loving Barcelona .com: Stay at an Apartment

by peliason

Fantastic. Aparments are so much more fun than hotels or hostels. So much more character. You really get a better sense of what it feels like to live in the city if you stay in a furnished apartment.

http://www.lovingbarcelona.com

Character was very unique and fun. We had a rooftop view (very rare) and were close to the beach, small shops, and restaurants.

Good views, communal pool, quiet area near beach and countryside.

The Pension Viladomat,: Affordable accommodation in the heart of Gerona

by into-thin-air

If you are looking for affordable accommodation right in the heart of the old city of Gerona then I would say that your Best choice would be The Pension Viladomat,
This Really is a delightful old fashioned pension, Run by a Friendly and Helpful family. Rooms start at just 40 euro, ours was a delight, a large comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the street. We shared a bathroom with one other room and also had a sitting room with TV !!
En-suite rooms are also available for 60 euro
This pension comes highly recommended in many guide-books so it might be an idea to book in advance

The Hotel Gesori: Central and inexpensive hotel in San Feliu

by into-thin-air

If you are looking for a Good, Central and inexpensive hotel in San Feliu than I would have no hesitation in recommending The Hotel Gesori.
Prices are very reasonable, Right in the middle of the season we paid 44 euro for a nice twin bedded en-suite room with a good view over the old town
This old art-deco style hotel in the centre of San Feliu makes a good base, it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach and less than that into the main shopping / restaurant streets of town
24 hour reception, free internet access is usually available for guests (But the computer was broken when we were there) Friendly and efficient staff, and even a lift if you are feeling lazy !! Why look further !!??

Tip Photo
Pic de L’Alga: 2,000 metres up in the Pyrenees

by into-thin-air

If you are looking to stay Right up in the mountains then Pic de L’Alga looks like a wonderful choice, we didn’t actually stay here but did go inside for a coffee.
Bed prices start at a very reasonable 13.35 euro, and the views are Awesome.
To get there you have to catch the funicular railway to Nuria and then the cable car from there and that drops you right at the hostal door.

Prats Hotel in Ribes de Freser: The Number One Choice for Ribes de Freser

by into-thin-air

We stayed at Prats Hotel in Ribes de Freser and it proved to be an Excellent choice !!
Gemma. the Lady who runs the place is both Friendly, Very Efficient and speaks excellent English, We chose the Half Pension (Dinner, Bed and Breakfast), The food was Excellent and the price of 39.5 Euro + 7% tax to be very fair.
The Restaurant was a delight, clean and airy with friendly waitress's and the breakfast room was also very pleasant, Breakfasts were wholesome and filling.
Our en-suite room overlooked the river and was clean and comfortable.
I wouldn't hesitate to give Prats Hotel the Very Best of recommendations, But it is Highly recommended to book in advance as it gets very busy during the season

Hotel Estela: Artistic hotel in Sitges

by jorgejuansanchez

I was lucky to be given the room 219 was made by Subirach, the present-day well known Spanish artist who finished the Passion Facade in the Sagrada Familia. And also you can find the jewellery works of Lorenzo Queen, the son of Hollywood actor Anthony Quinn.
In front of this hotel young people practice surfing almost everyday, summer and winter.
It has 65 rooms and nine of them are painted with frescoes in the walls. The more beautiful are room 109 and 219.

Hotel Estela is also called Hotel del Arte.

Hotel Univers: hotel by the beach

by jorgejuansanchez

Nice 3 stars hotel in the same beach front. The food in the restaurant is OK in self service system; eat as much as you want.

very nice and close to the beach
