Hotel Rull: Out of season - great value for money
I was on a 5 night birdwatching trip with 3 other blokes. We wanted somewhere central to stay in the Ebro Delta and we were looking for good value for money. At 32Euros each a night for bed and breakfast in a single room I think we found excellent value for money at this hotel.
The 3*, independent hotel is located in the town of Deltebre, which is on the northern banks of the Ebro River. We had terrific access to the main birdwatching sites in the area. It's not far from the motorway south from Barcelona and Tarragona so, from the airport, we reached the hotel within less than 2 hours.
My room was perfectly comfortable with twin beds and a very spacious bathroom that had all the complimentary toiletries. There was a TV but I didn't watch much of it.
Breakfasts were a little on the basic side but perfectly satisfactory. There was a range of yogurt, pastries, fruit, bread, cheese and cooked meat with juice & coffee/tea. On Sunday they splashed out and provided some local semolina dishes and sweet cakes. Altogether we were made to feel very welcome. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel but we thought the menu looked expensive so we ventured into town for our evening meals.
The only disappointment was that the swimming pool was closed in the winter but at that price I couldn't complain.
If you're on a budget but don't want to slum it then this Hotel will serve your needs very well.
Out of season ( January 2012) this Hotel was extremely good value for money. Unfortunately I cannot say what prices are like in the higher season
