More about Evenia Olympic Park

Olympic Park, Barcelona

by hopang

Barcelona Olympic Stadium, the venue for 1992 Barcelona Olympic, is located at Olympic Park in Montjuic in Central Barcelona. The main stadium which used for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympiad has a seating capacity for approximately 55,000 spectators. It was originally constructed in 1927 and renovated in 1989 for the Olympiad.

The Olympic Park covers an extensive area and lots of walking is required. Several stadiums are located at the Olympic Park beside the main stadium. There are also indoor stadiums and swimming complex which were used for the Olympiad in the Olympic Park. Admission to the Olympic Park is free and visitors are allowed to visit the main Olympic Stadium. It has become a very popular tourist attraction for both local and foreign tourists.

MUNICH

There is plenty to see in Munich but my favourite thing was the grounds of Schloss Nymphenburg. You wouldn't know you were in the middle of a large city at all and its a gorgeous place to explore on a sunny day. Other sites include the city centre, around the Marienplatz, the English gardens, beer gardens, Olympic park, zoo and BMW museum.. You could also take day trips to Dachau or Neuschwantein Castle.

We weren't very well prepared for our Europe trip and I had no idea at all what to expect from Munich and was very pleasantly surprised!

Don't go to Spain without seeing Barcelona!

Located on the coast, it lies not too far from the French border. It's well known for it's unusual architecture, Modernisme, which was born in Barcelona. It's most famous proponet of Modernisme was Antoni Gaudi.

His most famous work was the extravagant church of the Sagrada Familia (Sacred Family). He devoted his life to see this church done. He did not live to see it finished.

It still is not done.

The Ramblas is Barcelona's most famous avenue. The Gothic quarter called The Barri Gotic is where the cathedral and royal palace are located.

Beautiful mansions and Picasso's Museum are located in La Ribera, and next to it is Parc de la Ciutadella with the Museum of Modern Art and Barcelona's Zoo.

Barcelona is a Port City, and the seafront has been revitalized and now has beaches. There is also a shipyard, a marina, and a promenade.
I usually do not like tours, but we took a wonderful guided tour and overview of Barcelona. We saw:

Sagrada Familia Church
Two of Gaudi's houses
Gaudi Park (fantastic)
Olympic Park and Stadium
Columbus Monument
Catalon Gothic Cathedral
Picasso Museum
Spanish Village

Of course, we did lots of wandering on our own, but this tour brought everything in the city worth seeing into focus.

BARCELONA

"FC Barcelona in action."

For any football fan, no visit to Barcelona would be complete without a visit being made to the Camp Nou stadium to either see FC Barcelona in action or to visit their excellent museum.

This photo was taken in MaY 2007 when Barcelona were playing host to Real Betis. The final score was 1 - 1 and the home crowd were not happy as it damaged their chances of winning the league.

"Circuit de Catalunya."

The Formula One "circus" arrives in Barcelona each year, usually in May. I have been to the race on 2 occasions. For more info and photos, see my Sports Travel tip.

"Arc de Triomf."

Not quite as large (or famous) as the one in Paris but nevertheless Barcelona's version of the "Triumphal Arch" is still an impressive sight.

"Olympic Park."

The Olympic Stadium. Estadi Olimpic, is located in the Montjuic area of the city on a hilltop. We visited the stadium and its neighbouring sporting venues during a visit to the city in October 2005. The Olympic stadium which hosted thee 1992 Olympics is now home to FC Espanyol football club and can accommodate 65000 spectators.

The futuristic tower you can see in the background is actually a communications tower which was built to transmit coverage from the Olympics around the world.

"Marina at Barcelona."

"Relaxing at street cafe."

I have been to Barcelona on 3 occasions. May 2007 was my last visit along with some friends to watch the Spanish F1 Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya. Within 30 minutes of arriving at our hotel, this was the scene at a street cafe opposite the hotel.

URGENT - Getting to Figueres from lloret de mar

by samfar

Hi there,

I need some information and maybe you can help me.

I will be staying at the Evenia Olympic Park hotel in september and i need to go to Figueres. Is there a bus or train that takes me there? I need to go to the Empuriabrava.

Regards
Sam

I've looked on the Sarbus website and it looks like a 3 hour journey from Lloret to Figueres, via SANT FELIU GUIXOLS. Lloret isn't on the railway, the nearest station is in Blanes where you could connect for the Girona train. Figueres to Girona is an hour by bus, though you can go from Girona to Figueres by rail, in half an hour.

When I was there in Blanes in June I could only see getting there by pretty much that route - and the trains are cheaper and faster than bus. Blanes to Figures. One change along the way usually.

WHat's so URGENT - in your question ?

is it Figueres or/and Empuriabrava you are going to?

Getting from Lloret de Mar to Figueres & Empuriabrava

by samfar001

Hi. I hope someone can help me as I have been sending emails to spanish transport companies and no replies.

I will be staying at Evenia Olympic Park in Lloret de Mar, and need to get to Figueres and then Empuriabrava.

1. Is it possible to get a direct transfer?
2. What is the best means; bus or train?
3. Where can i find the times as I am on a tight schedule to arrive in Empuriabrava at a certain time.

Thanks
Sam

There are some region bus companies, but if you have a tight schedule, I recommend renting a car. The Costa Brava is not the easiest place to get around by public transport. It can be done, but takes some planning.

Here one to check out: http://www.sarfa.com/paginas/interurbano_buscador.php

Hola,

This page can be useful for you, you can search the best way for traveling through Catalunya by public transport or by car. I'm afraid that is only in Catalan and Spanish, but I think that you'll understand it. FYI "desde" means from, "hasta" means to or till, and "transbordament" means transfer.
