Beaches and parachutes
by jorgejuansanchez about Hotel Gran Garbi
Very pleasant Lloret de Mar is a little Miami Beach or Acapulco.
This tourist resort is located at 60 kilometres north of Barcelona, in the Costa Brava, and is a paradise for young tourists from England, Holland and Italy that spend the nights in the many discos drinking without coercion dozens of beers in the beach.
During the mornings there are many tourist activities, such as banana boats, parachute (this is my preferred activity when I go there with Paula, my Spanish daughter), the water world attraction, etc.
There is a spectacular boat service connecting regularly many tourists resort in the Costa Brava with a magnificent view of the villages at a cheap price, from Malgrat de Mar to Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar, etc.
There are 365 hotels in Lloret de Mar, all at very popular prices, especially in the low season. I use to go to the Grand Garbi, located at 100 metres from the beach. It has an enormous swimming pool, excellent free service restaurant plus flamenco shows every night.

Lloret del mar

Hi!
My 17 year old daughter wants to go with her friends to Lloret del Mar in mid June. I don't know anything about this seaside resort. Is it safe and can I send three young and responsible girls there on their own? Any hotel recommendations? They were going to stay at the Gran Garbi, but I found terrible reviews on Tripadvisor. I suggested the Excelsior. Do you have some advise? How do they travel from Girona airport to Lloret del Mar?

I agree with Ilargitxo here: Looret is one of the ugliest resorts of the Med coast. But every summer receives thousands of tourist from the North whose only goal is sun, nightlife, cheap booze and (hopefully) sex. I'm sorry to say it this way, and I'm sure is not the words than a worried parent would like to hear, but it's the reality. Safe? Yes, of course, depending on themselves. They probably will not find a single one Spaniard there, and will not experience any Catalan culture. It may be a good base to explore the area, but in this case, why do not going directly to nicer towns, like Tossa de Mar (lively enough for them not be bored).

I agree with the above, but if they DO end up in Lloret, tell them to take the boat that goes up the coast and stops at various beaches. They can get off and spend some time and take the boat back later. Santa Cristina is a nice little beach cove.
