Hotel Maria del Mar, is great if what you are after is somewhere to lay your head after a night or day out! Staff are fairly friendly especially the Restaurant Staff. If you are in a large group perhaps travelling with a Tour Operator for Sports etc then insist on 2 man rooms, the 4 man rooms are the same size as the 2 with another 2 beds shoved in there! Hence no room to move or put anything away! I was lucky in that I got a 2 man room, the rooms are clean and tidy beds are Ok unless you are on a temporary bed then don't way anywhere near the 15 Stone weight limit they have on them or you'll go straight through!
The Hotel Food is pretty basic especially the breakfast only went once out of 4 possible occasions and dinner better but not much, I didn't see the queues everybody else seems to be talking about and we found seats for our group fairly easy maybe we were just lucky!
If your looking for shopping then don't stay on the main drag just take a stroll along the road/alley opposite McDonalds and Burger King and you'll come out onto the Shopping Pedestrian Drag seemed to have most things covered on this place!
The Beach - we had a little game on the beach when we first arrived and several people ended up with blistered feet the beach is very small gravelly and it gets stuck in between the toes etc, and although the beach is swept on a daily basis by the local workmen with tractor rakes etc there is glass and bottle tops everywhere!
We went out of season and most places were quiet but I can recommend the Tequila Bar and you can apparently find this on FACEBOOK Tequila Bar 502 there are several other bars around and they if your in a large group will cut you a deal to get you in!!! Beware the sad sac bars where there is no=one in if your not sure ask to have a look before you get sucked in! We were told of a bar with loads of 'nice young ladies' and when we asked to have a look we were then told that the 'nice young ladies' had ' just gone to dinner in a taxi and would be straight back'!!!
We had a great time in Lloret and it was just what we wanted although food could have been better in the hotel there are plenty of places which will feed you a full english for less than 3 euros!!!
Oh the other must do while your there is the Catamaran Trip off the beach 3-4 hours all you can drink, they did say all you can eat as well but the BBQs weren't big enough!! But the Beer and Sangria was good and certainly hit the spot! This is called the Sensations Cruise!
Unique Quality: There apparently is a pool or two but the hotel is split into 2 and I believe the pool was on the other side!!!
Can anyone tell me anything about this hotel. Is it far from Public Transport and from the Centre of the Town. We are an a couple in the fiftees with a 13 year old son.
