The stretch of coastline immediately to the south of the France/Spain border is, mercifully, still relatively unspoiled. This is the view northwards from the road between El Port de la Selva and Roses, looking towards Cap Cerbère.
Condsiderably further south along what is referred to collectively as the Costa Brava, the view south from the serpentine road between Sant Feliu de Guixols, Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar.
Our only reason for visiting Lloret de Mar, in January 2004, was to explore a secondhand bookshop there. The old quarter of the town survives, but as for the rest . . .
This is the coastline immediately to the north. Properties have sprouted up wherever it is technically feasible to build them!
