Aqua Hotel Promenade: Perfect in Pineda

We stayed at the Aqua Hotel Promenade for 7 nights at the end of May.

I’d booked a “superior” room as we wanted a room overlooking the sea: this meant we had a flat screen tv, beach towels, a fridge, sun loungers on the balcony, and a very flash shower (but no bath). I was a bit taken aback to find that the shower & the two hand basins weren’t in a separate room, in fact the shower was in a glass cubicle with strategically placed frosting to (partially) preserve your modesty (the toilet was separate). If you value privacy in your ablutions, you might not like that! The lady on reception did say that 90% of the rooms had a standard bathroom, so maybe we were just lucky … or not.

The room itself was fine, with two armchairs and a comfortable double bed, and our request for extra pillows was met immediately. There’s a safe in a cupboard but you have to pay for that (I think it was about 18 euros for a week, plus a 10 euro deposit). With the superior room you also get free wi-fi internet, however, that only seemed to work in the reception area, and we couldn’t connect to hotmail as it was blocked by the hotel server (however, there are 2 computers in reception for guests to use, at a cost of 1 euro for 10 minutes).

There’s car parking under the hotel, but as this costs an extra 70 euros a week you might as well park on the road outside, or in one of the back streets – we never had a problem finding a space.

All the hotel staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful, and the common areas were modern, attractive and spotlessly clean. And the two glass lifts that run up the front of the hotel are great!

Food was good – not the best I’ve had but they’re catering to a lot of people (and you can’t please everyone), however there was always a wide choice, on both the breakfast & evening meal buffets.

The swimming pool isn’t very large, and as others have mentioned, it doesn’t get the sun all day, but since there’s a lovely beach just across the road, there’s plenty of places to sunbathe.

I was a little worried by the fact that the railway runs right along the seafront across the road from the hotel, but we really didn’t notice it much as there wasn’t much noise, and there are plenty of pedestrian underpasses for beach access.

Overall, I’d say the Promenade Park is a great hotel.

Great staff, very friendly & helpful
Ideal location - just across the road (and railway!) from the long beach
The glass lifts!

Taurus Park Hotel: Good hotel for a base or for just sunning it.!!

Ideal if you need a base, or if you enjoy the sun just to chill out, er no
main hotel in the area ideal if you have kids, as it is a Thomson Summer Sun Hotel
Kids entertainment on from 9.00am to 10.00pm at night,
Used the hotel as a base to tour the area.

Meals are a bun fight , at breakfast its grab and table and help your self to the buffett, again the evening meal given a table, but still help your self. Food is good plenty of choice mainly spanish dishes.

Pineda de Mar is a tourist and gastronomic town ideal for family holidays, located on the Catalan coast with a long sandy beach of very fine quality and promenades with trees, flowers and fountains where you can take a short rests.
But that's not all, since its excellent communications network links it with Barcelona either by train (one every 30 minutes) or by road (30 minutes drive), opening up a worl of possibilities. In addition, just a few minutes from the centre of the town, nature and mountain sports lovers can enjoy the beautiful wooded landscape of the Montnegre Corredor natural park.

By road from France you should take the A7 (E15) motorway, take exit nº 9 and continue along the N-II road towards Barcelona to reach Pineda. From Spain , take the A7 (E15) to Granollers area and then take the C60 (B40) which links up to the C32 heading towards Girona, exit nº 22 (122) and you will reach Pineda.
