It looked good, its got its own beach and the food looked good. Well it looked good, honest. The food was bland, the bar was way expensive. My room had a veiw of a hedge, a really big headge. Its got its own beach but its always full, full, full. If you want to get up early and have a quick swim or go a midnight then fine but its a big hotel its a small beach. Theres a kids club and music blareing away round the pool all day. But however all is not lost coz just round the corner theres a fabulous place for breakfast and drinks and peace and quiet during the day, at night it gets busy and loud and loads of fun, balloon animals anyone! Theres the smugglers accros the road which is brilliant for food and sitting down, take cash no credit cards. Also there are loads off little beaches on the coast track to Salou itself, brilliant.

Unique Quality: The sound of wailing over tired children, its two in the morning you morons let the poor sod go to bed! the cleaners do have a tendency to leave the patio doors open, NOT GOOD ON THE GROUND FLOOR! so use the safe. Some of the other residents found this a bit much as well. And then............................the flip flops. The bloody flip flops and the banging doors and the screaming children all through the night, but mostly its the flip flops. I spoke to one couple who went to Barcelona for a day and stayed for three nights to get away from the flip flops. Oh and the tellys crap! and you have to pay extra for a remote! heres a wee example of what its like.....flip flop flip flop wail crash bang wail flop flip...........get up early and slam some doors its the only form of revenge thats legal!

Looks good, nice little beach at the front, gets crowded so go in the middle of the night its much more fun. The hotel is so noisy, very loud, no sleep loud. Take ear plugs coz there are drunken idiots wandering around all night slamming doors and screaming at each other, and the incesent sound of flip flops pounding non carpeted corridors is too much for a sensitive soul like what I am to cope with. There's over tired kids bawling their heads off everywhere. The cleaners have a tendancy to leave the patio doors open, I wonder why, so make sure you use the safe and put anything you want to keep in it at all times. The tellys cr*p and you have to pay extra for a remote control! I wouldn't bother with the food, but lucky you there are two super places just round the corner, thank god. If you get up early then get your own back by slamming your door several times and stomp up the corridor singing a happy song in very big flip flops.

Unique Quality: Noise, and lots of it. I supose if you have a family and dont want to leave the hotel at all, ever then it's not bad (apart from the noise). There is a wonderful bus service to Salou it's self, but the walks nice as well, go along the beach, 10mins and you are there. Taxis are quite cheap as well. The little coves and beaches are great and dont get as packed, I mean really heaving as the main beaches, and the swiming is very safe, you would have to go miles to get out of your depth, b ut the waves are cool enough for some basic body surfing. The hotel has a good pool and lots of childrens activities and ......have I mentioned the sound of flip flops in the night, coming to get you, flip flop flip flop flip flop........agggggggggggggggg.

Cala Font Hotel

The Hotel Cala Font is based at the top of a steep hill but there are bus stops just around the corner which go to all local areas. The pool is a good size cleaned well with the water always clear. The sunbeds are unlocked at 10am, you can access then beach by a gate leading from the pool to the beach but be warned you need your hotel card key to get into the gate once you have been to the beach (this card is waterproof). The hotel entertainment is alright entertainment till 12:00 midnight. The food is very nice but as many people have commented it gets a bit repetative there is a seperate man cutting up meat on certain days the breakfast is continental but their is bacon and sausage and egg. The hotel staff were friendly and helpfull and you could always find someone at reception. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels. All in all we had a lovely stay at the hotel Cala font!!!

the cala font

by TripAdvisor Member nosilaekul

the hotel itself is very nice and very clean but they do allow dogs which is very annoying when the barking wakes you up. the entertainment is rubbish and the food is atrocious. i would not go there ever again. cala font is in cap salou about ten minutes on the bus from salou itself. the place is very quiet and also very windy.

We got a taxi in to salou its self nearly evey day it was lovely we enjoyed it so much we will be going to salou next year

And would deffantly go back in to the cala font hotel

Not suitable for people unable to do a lot of walking it is all hills

lovely hotel

by TripAdvisor Member LOVE0OUR-HOLIDAYS

We stayed at cala font 2 weeks in august with family 7 altogether. Hotel immaculate, staff very friendly, kids team brilliant. The hotel restaurant was lovely, food and cleanliness, not repetative (what do people expect), different main dish most nights, just side dishes and salads same. Hotel entertainment could be better though have seen worse. Positioned right on top of beach, 10 mins from main towns. Would go back.

Nice beach, Terrible food.

We just arrived home from our 5 day get away at Cala Font. If you like cold bacon, stale croissants, moldy cheese, green hard boiled eggs and waiting in line for 10 minutes for a piece of toast which you just put in the toaster with tongs that have hair on them, then this hotel is for you. Not to mention if you have children that need to sit in high chairs, be prepared to bring your own dissinfectant to clean the chairs as there is always something sticky on them.
Also you must like sleeping on rock hard beds which by the way are two singles pushed together which might work for you but wasn't too pleasent for my husband and I who are newlywed.
The walls ARE paper thin. I read other reviews and thought, how bad can they be? They really are paper thin. To each side of you and on top. Watch out for a sleepless night if someone above you decides to wear heels and prance around their room in circles all night.
You must like confined spaces. The elevators leave much to be desired. Picture yourself in a shoebox... that is one of the cala font elevators, which by the way close on you every chance they get, I am starting to see bruises on my arms where the elevators got me. No joke, those elevators are not fit for anyone in more of a party of one.
The beach is full of cigarette butts and dog pee, oh yes, did I forget to mention that dogs are allowed to stay in this hotel?? Not very child friendly if you ask me...
The hotel IS on an incline which ISN'T very accesible for people pushing babies in strollers.. be prepared for a work out.
All I have left to warn you about is the dinner buffet at this hotel. It is worse than breakfast. The concierge was very short with us and left us feeling like we were beggars at our own buffet after asking a few simple questions..But the food was just gross. Plain and simple. Gross. If you like microwaving your fish, chicken, pork, or whatever it was I don't know because they don't label it so it is your own best guess, than you will enjoy yourself at this hotel. If you want fresh food with a nice variety, with helpful staff that make you feel welcome in a hotel on an even plane with a beach free of litter than I suggest you go somewhere else.

Nice Hotel but on a hill

by TripAdvisor Member irishpat

I have just returned fron Salou and the first thing to say that the hotel is not in Salou but in the out skirts of Salou in a place called Cap Salou it is a nice area but very hilly so the hotel is not suitable for people with disabilities
The staff in the hotel were very pleasant and the hotel was spotless and the food was also good buffet style the good thing is breakfast goes on until 11 and dinner till 10 the entertainment in the hotel goes on to about midnight which is variod .
The hotel is about 20 to 30 minutes walk to Salou but there is a good bus service into Salou. I would stay there if I was ever to stay in Salou agin

The hotel was clean but the food Let us down!

by TripAdvisor Member Mrblaky2k

My girlfriend and I stayed in the hotel for a week. The claeaning staff always ensured your room was clean and tidy and they were very friendly too. The drinks were a bit pricey so we had to go to other bars in the area some times. The bar staff were very good though. The only thing that was very dissapointing, was that the food was poor. I can honestly say that out of the 6 dinners we had, only two of the meals were cooked to their proper standards. This I hope the hotel will improve upon as I feel it is the one major things which is letting the hotel down -we heard many people complaining amongs one another about the quality of the food. There is a fantastic sea view and not much to do althought the entertainment within the hotel was good. We had a great time at this hotel they ensured it was kept clean 24/7 which I liked. If they could ensure that the standard of the food would improve I would definately come back next year.

Quite a nice hotel if a little strange. Not the best by far.

by TripAdvisor Member SYSTIX

Nice hotel, quite large and clean and a good location right on one of the small beaches at Cap Salou. It is basic but 'good basic' if you know what I mean.

Even when arriving on a package holiday you can't necessarily check in on arrival. If you arrive in the morning you are sent away and asked to return after 12:00 as the rooms aren't ready - we have never had this on a package holiday before. Thankfully we had a car so were able to go for a little drive and return later.

Plenty of food, well cooked and a large choice. The selection sometimes a little strange (quite often in fact) but hey it is Spain. My wife is vegetarian and I love meat - we both enjoyed the food. There was always a childrens option too with chips, fish fingers and beans or something like that and the biggest selection of deserts we have had in Spain. One of the few places in Spain to have proper pork sausages for breakfast and bacon without bones - we really didnt understand some of the bad comments on this website regarding the food. If you can't eat here then you REALLY are fussy.

Waiter service was virtually non-existent around the hotel and even in the restaurant you have to buy your drinks from a small bar (never had this before in Spain). Also no dishes or cutlery were removed from your table until you left the restaurant which was a bit awkward on smaller tables. We also regularly saw seemingly un-used cutlery from mucky tables being used to set other tables which is not good really but depends if you're bothered.

The hotel has a small car park at the top of the road which is good if you have a car, but it is awkward to park outside the hotel on arrival (i.e. to pick up your card to get into the car park).

This is the only hotel where we have ever been kept awake by noise at night (every night). Unfortunately this was down to other hotel guests (sadly mostly British) and not road / resort noise so perhaps we just had bad company that week.

We have stayed in far better hotels with same or lower star-ratings. Overall good but basic compared to others. I think it probablly gets it's star rating from the location only. Otherwise its a 2-star in my book.

It was a cheap holiday and was fine for the money. We wouldn't go back here and think it was over-rated on trip advisor but perhaps we've been spoilt by better hotels for similar prices.

Re: hotel cala font,salou.

I stayed there 4 years ago for a week. It's a nice hotel, with near-enough it's own beach, nice pool, and friendly service. if i remember rightly, it was full of russian holidaymakers, and so the restaurant almost tended to their needs, more than everyones different tastes. There were a few young british staying there(we went in may), and it could get quit rowdy at night. It was just outside of town, we used to walk home(20 minutes from town), or get a cab, which was the equivalent of £4 back then. I haven't been back to salou since then, so maybe the hotel is different now, but a mate of mine went back to salou last june and said it was now like a low-class ibiza, if you understand that.
You could always try www.tripadvisor.com they have hotel reviews on there

I was living in Salou for six months and became quite tired with that place, I'd recommend you visit the less tourist-massified interior of Tarragona, places like Reus or Valls still keep the flavour of Catalonia.
Enjoy your trip
