Got lots of questions please help :)

by WildGal86

Hello all at the moment we are doing a toss up between Benidorm and Salou....... Does anybody have idea which is better?

I love the look of the waterpark in salou and the portaventura but what other things are there?? Is there anywhere you can swim with dolphins? What is the weather like in September? (We going over the 18th) We're going as a young couple, of course we love nightlife and clubbing but also other things during the day like is there any abseilng/climbing/mountain biking of course we are going to relax but we want some other activites/experiences to do as well :)

Any info really really appreciated thankyou XxX

hi i hve been to both salou and benidorm , i went to benidorm when i was about 11 with my family and i went to salou last october and the weather was nearly 30'c ,i have been t the water parks in both desitinations, i have read that in salou there is a glass bottomed boat and all the drinks are free after you paid the enterance fee (great for the guys) you can aslo go scuba diving in cambrills which is a 5 min bus ride from salou , u can also go on a jeep excusion is the mountains and i am planning on doing this as i have read lots of good reviews on it !! i am returning to salou for 2 weeks on may the 14th, i think that benidorm is better for people with young familys but i think salou is also great too , but i prefer salou, but i think benidorm is a bit cleaner and tidier ! hope this helps !
Lauren xx enjoy your holiday

Salou has plenty of clubs and late night venues, so you will have options there.

I do not recommend scuba diving along these streches of coast line. There is an underwater park in Tarragona (I wrote a tip on it in my Tarragona page), that has some sunken objects to look at. Otherwise, the coast line is flat and sandy, with poor vegitation and fish life.
Save your money and simply go snorkeling along the point at Cap Salou. The rocks there have the best things to look at and they are all within 100m of shore.

The 4x4 excursions can be fun. I've done those and also taken my mountian bike on many of those trails. They are not extreme, but give some great views and climb the moutains quickly.

I similarly wrote a few tips on my Tarragona page about mountain biking the area. Tarragona is only 10 minutes from Salou

Both places have plus points.
The weather won't be a problem, both have good theme parks, I prefer Port Aventura as it's almost as good as Universal Studios in Florida... a lot of the rides are the same.
Salou has more of a Spanish feel to it, Benidorm is a big city really, 250,000 will be there in the height of summer.
Both resorts have good beaches.
Both offer all that you seek for daytime things to do.
I think that the nightlife in Salou is more Spanish, Benidorm nightlife caters for Brits Germans and Spanish, it's very international.
I don't think there's any swimming with dolphins packages available at either place.
There's not much in it... go to both? lol

Benidorm. There is a much bigger variety of bars clubs restuarants. It is more modern I was in Salou last year found it a bit dated, most of the bars have bingo nights karaoke and the beach is not too clean. There is a theme/adventure pk in Benidorm as for Portaventura it is well overpriced and over hyped would prefer Blackpool pleasure beach any day. September will be a lot milder than July I think it is a much nicer heat at that time of year.

Travel Tips for Salou

This lady was a Dutch...

by Umfufu

This lady was a Dutch grandma. She always travelled alone, since her husband died. We could go along with her just fine. She used to eat some diners with us. I think she is not alive anymore (you never know) but if she is, i like to tell her that she was a pleasant friend in this holiday!

Salou

by Hockeylady

I found it very clever to stay in a holiday area of Salou during my vacation. Salou is a nice and clean small town near Barcelona and there's a lot to see & do in Salou's neighbourhood. Salou itself is full of active sporting people and it´s also ideal for families.
