Salou: H10 Mediterranean Village: "Mediterranean Village - The Untold Story"
i agree with you in some way. we was staying in block D in october 2005 in room 131 which is directly above the stage and some nights the noise went on till 11.30pm. i thought the entertainment was good and the food was excellent. customer service eat your heart out they would craw on thier knees if u asked them 2. the weather was rubbish the 1st week but thats not thier fault. im guessing you stayed in the high season? jeep safari was brill, the market "---" same as english and the stalls where selling the same stuff, street sellers annoying everywhere u went, barcelona trip short and not very exciting mum says they have cut the water fountains down too much. tour guid couldnt even say salou properly she said it as salow.
well i was happy that i went but dissapointed in some areas i would go again but dont think i could stand waiting at reus airport in the que that long again.
Ten of us stayed at the H10 Mediterranean Village and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms were clean and there was a maid service every day, cleaning and changing the towels. The kids aged 2,5,and 10 absolutely loved the 3 swimming pools that were on offer, and one day of the week giant inflatables were put in one of the pools for the older ones to climb on. This hotel had all the facilities you need including launderette, hairdressers. The one thing that I still dream about was the food, delicious, lots of choice, kids loved it, self service, as much as you want. The only gripe I have is that we arrived at 10.00am and the rooms weren't ready until 2pm so there was a lot of waiting around. So glad we were just out of Salou, too busy, we only went into Salou 2 times, that was enough. Plenty of beaches around the hotel and a nice quiet area. Entertainment throughout the day, kids daisy club. Kids disco in evening and very good adult entertainment, always different every night. Overall a very enjoyable holiday and I would definately go back to the H10 Mediterranean Village
20 out of 10!!! A fantastic time had by all!
H10 Mediterranean Village Hotel
Wow! Wow! Wow!...What a place!
We have just returned form a 2 week stay at this beautiful and friendly hotel and so want to go back there!!!!
So what you cannot get into the rooms until 2pm, so what that you arrived at 10am, take a look at the surroundings! The reception lobby is nice and big and airy with its glass roof and amazing view of the waterfall just outside of the glass doors….what are these people complaining about??
We had 2 adults and 4 children all sleeping in a large one bed apartment and we had enough room. There is a sofa bed that sleeps 2 and a bunk bed (that is also a sofa) that sleeps 2 as well as the 2 twin beds in the bedroom. Our room was amazing as it over looked the main pool, and to say that it did this the noise wasn’t too bad either.
The only gripe about the room is that we were SC and there wasn’t enough room to store food (but then with 4 kids it doesn’t last long anyway).
The pools were great even though they were cold but once you were in you were ok. There’s lots of room for sun beds, and with the shallow bit at the front for the kids we spent most of our time here.
The hotel is always clean and tidy, the staff do an amazing job keeping it clean.
The entertainment was very good and our kids had a great time and with the entertainers, they were all very friendly, it’s a shame that most of them are leaving. Esther, Super Tony, Roderic and Anok we will miss u guys!
Watch the drinks in the bar at night as they can be a bit priecy (but buy the kids coke and drinks from the shop and slip it…no one knows!! much cheaper that way)
The beaches are very close to the hotel (across the road) and are very clean! Our tip take a bus ride to La Pindea beach, its 5 mins away and about 1.30 Euros each. The beach there is well nice and the sea is great too also with lots of room!
Do have faith in the buses though as they work well. You can go to Tarragonna (watch your bags though), Salou, La Pindea, and Bonnavista (this is where the Sunday market is). DO NOT GO TO THE MARKET WITH THE REPS!!! They want to charge about 13 euros each to go with them where its 3.90 euros on the local bus!!!...have faith in them!
Don’t book the trips with the reps until you’ve had a look at the bus stops near by on in Salou as they are much cheaper!
We cannot vouch for many restaurants as they were closing down whilst we were there (the end of the season and they had some really bad weather the week b4 we gotthere), so we sorted ourselves out and went to the restaurant in the hotel, which I have to say was very, very nice!!!..(Don’t pay for all of you though….pay for some then get the others to say they’ve been to the loo one at a time…their too busy to notice any way!!!)
The supermarket at La Pindea seemed to be the best and cheapest around (its on the sea front).
Don’t forget the roof top Jacuzzi’s for your sun bathing…soooooo nice up there!
The indoor pool is great too (take some swimming hats though as you have to wear one and they charge 2 euros per cap!!!)
But the sauna and steam room are both very nice too!!!!
Sorry to babble on, but we had such a nice time here we just want to share it with you!!
All in all this should be a 5 * hotel!...cannot wait to go back!....(don’t listen to these bad reviews their talking rubbish!!!)
The weather was amazing for just about every day of the 14 days. Very hot for the time of year and lying on a boat on the pool is sheer heaven!!!
Barcelonia is a must too....the fountians and football ground are so good!
20 out of 10!....check out the photos too!
To start with arrived at 10am to be told rooms would not be ready until 2pm. we had been travelling from 2am,
and having two children aged one and five they where shattered. The hotel knew guests were arriving,so should have the rooms ready, so went off into cap salou to find our where abouts, NOT VERY MUCH THERE!
Around 2pm walked back to hotel to pick up keys,to find a huge queue out of the hotel doors ,waited half an hour for keys ,receptionist misrable.A tip if paying a breakage deposit pay with english pounds not euros. So waiting for four hours we thought our room had better be fantastic, the floor had just been mopped, it was quite slippy, room was ok, nothing to get excited about.Towels, and bed linen was only changed once in the seven days. Floor not brushed or mopped once, and beds were never made, ive never been to hotel with such lasp cleaning program.
We didnt use the swimming pools as we went out every day, but the last day we used the roof top jacuzzi, get a pass from reception, lovely and quiet away from the noisy pools down stairs.Kids entertainment at night was fun.
Eating out was ok, mostly went to smugglers cove, but get there early,as they dont seem to cope when it gets very busy.
Went to Portaventura three times BRILLIANT.
Costa cariba FANTASTIC.
Aquapolis in La Pinda BRILLIANT.
Cambrils beach beautiful, a McDonalds opposite, and watched the local fisherman bring in there catch in the afternoon, very interesting.
Bus very cheap and often.
The little train a bit dearer but fun for the kids.
Would stay in Salou again but in the centre where theres more going on.
Rain and more rain
Stayed here 10th october. Hotel is excellent, lots of food but never actually hot. Staff very helpful, room cleaned every day. Blew the electrics in our room but fixed within minutes.
Easy to reach beach and buses very frequent though often full. Market at Bellavista no different to english so dont go expecting to buy spanish gifts as i did cos there arnt any!
Entertainment for kids was gud, adults was gud most nights.
Would recommend the hotel to anyone as they cant be blamed for the 6 wet days we had out of 7.
fantastic family hotel with fabulous food
We have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel. Stayed half board in a hotel room for 2 adults and 2 children. Room was an ample size and if only 2 people were in the room it would have felt huge!!!
Hotel is extrmeley clean and the staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. Outdoor pools were freezing but lovely and clean (I guess it was October though). Needed to wear a swim hat for the indoor pool (available from reception at 2 euros) and that was a little warmer.
The food was superb. Lots of choice and variety. Kids also loved the choice of food both at breakfast and at dinner. Sunbeds were not a problem to us as the weather was quite changeable with rain on a few occasions. Barcelona (an hour away) in fact got flooded in the metro system whilst we were there!!! The changeable weather did not spoil our holiday though and we still got to the beach for 3 days out of the week. The sea was warm by the way and the beach opposite the hotel was lovely.
Thanks to reading some reviews before our holiday we noted the problems with getting rooms at 2pm so prepared ourselves and packed a bag with costumes and beach towels. No problem at all for us. There is a left luggage room with toilet and shower for guests' use and we just waited until 2.30 to go to reception to get our keys. No queue then! To those who have complained about having to wait until 2pm - I would just ask them to consider those leaving the hotel to go home before the new arrivals - imagine what time they would have to clear the rooms if they were to be ready by 10am!
Children's club and entertainment were all enjoyed by our children and the evening entertainment that we attended was very well presented.
Overall a very good family hotel with fantastic food.
A little disappointing
Arrived at hotel on 3 oct, myself, my husband and our 2 year old daughter. Went to check in at reception only to be told we could not check in until 2pm, there was nowhere to leave our lugguge accept in reception, and so sat in the hotel bar until we were able to check in. Started to queue at reception ready to check in at 2pm, good job really as the queue became huge!!! Our room was very nice, no compaints there, on ground floor with an enclosed terrace. My only gripe about the room was the maid service, our beds were made each day and towels changed, however the floor was not swept or mopped since the day we checked in, we also had a slight problem with ants. Oh and take your own coathangers as we only had 6. I dont normally do ironing on holiday but found i needed to as the men were only allowed into the restaurant for the evening meal if their shoulders were covered and were not wearing shorts. It seems the ladies could wear whatever! Saying that, we were halfboard but only ate in the restaurant 3 nights out of 7 as the food was not up to much, it was never really warm enough and there was never much variety, the restaurant itself was more like a canteen. We ate in Don Pancho's which is just down the street outside the hotel, it doesnt look much from the outside but the food is lovely and the staff really friendly(unlike the hotel staff!!!!)there is also a crazy golf course out the back.
Although you have already paid to stay at the hotel it seems you still have to pay out more, EG To use the indoor swimming pool you have to wear a swim cap which you have to pay for at reception(there are no changing rooms as such, we had to get changed in the toilet/shower cubicles). If you have a fridge in your room you have to pay to use it, we paid a 5 euro deposit and then 3 euro's a day! The same goes if you want a kettle in your room.
Dont get me wrong, the hotel itself was lovely as were the pools, however the water was FREEZING, so cold in fact that it physically took my breath away when i got in and had to get out after 5 mins. Besides paddling with our daughter, non of us went back in again!!!
The evening entertainment was very good we thought. The kids disco(our daughter loved)was at 8.30 every night, and the adult entertainment after was also good. We found that although the reps are supposed to be onsite regularly, when we wanted to book tickets to Port aventura, they were nowhere to be seen, my husband went back and forth trying to find them for 5 hours, anyway we did book the tickets and Port Aventura is a must, really good.
Cap Salou is very small and theres not a lot to do there.
Salou beach was very nice, our daughter loved it, plenty of space, well we did go out of season! There were watersports galore, and the sea water was a little warmer than the pool!!! LOL. I definately would not recommend the hotel and would not go back, its rated as a four star but should be classed as 3 if that! If you would like to know more as i could go on forever feel free to email us, XX
the best time ever
I have just come back from the medittereanean village hotel with my family there were fifteen of us altogether and i had the best time ever the place is beutifull and the hotel was the best. the entertainement was so much fun and the kids really enjoyed it the daisy disco was great and the adults part was a laugh i would defnately go ther again and would recommend it to all who are thinking of going there
Great family holiday
Myself, my husband and little boy (age 3) stayed here recently and had a fabulous holiday. The facilities in this hotel and apartments are outstanding. Sauna, Jacuzzis, Gym are all free! The outdoor pools are freezing, but indoor pool is lovely and warm! It is close to the bus route that runs between Salou and Barcelona, so it's very easy to catch a bus and just disappear for the day! The beaches are quite small unless you go to the large beach on the coast road to Salou!
But the sea was warm and the beach not too busy, and the fishes were nibbling at our ankles! The kind of bliss you expect when you go to the Carribean or Indian Ocean, not necessarily equated with Salou!
The Restaurant at the hotel served good quality food and the service is excellent! The prices in the hotel bar are a little expensive but we just bought a couple of bottles of spirit for our room, and if you are staying in the summer and have small children you will still be able to enjoy the entertainment, which is good and witty, from your balcony!
The kids club staff are very friendly and the playground is safe and has lots of fun activities for children.
Altogether we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks here and were very sad to go home to the cold Scottish winter!
we stayed for 2 weeks, arrived at 10.45 to be told we couldnt actually have our rooms until 2pm, we understand they have alot of incomings and outgoings, on certain days but after leaving on an early morning flight from manchester with 3 kids we would have hoped to have been in our rooms on arrival. The food was discusting to say it was a 4 star hotel, always cold whatever you had. The staff were very friendly especialy cleaners and reception. Entertainment of very poor standards for adults not much for kids either, unless they like colouring and drawing in the daisy club. Overall not a holiday we wish to repeat.
