We have just returned from a well-earned rest in Molinos Park Hotel. The hotel was in a lovely rural location about a mile from Salou but within a few yards of several delightful sandy coves with gently shelving beaches - ideal for families to enjoy.
In the hotel the rooms were kept beautifully clean each day and the linen was changed regularly. Meals were excellent, with a good choice of fish, meat, vegetables and salads and with plenty of deserts or fresh fruit. There was more than you could eat at every meal, and supplies were replenished as soon as they became low.
There was a quiet area where adults could enjoy sun- bathing and jacuzzis, and this was serviced by a bar providing free drinks throughout the day.
The staff were friendly and polite at all times.
excellent flight, picked up by cab on time arrived at hotel all sorted and booked in,this is where it goes downhill !!!!
Room was clean(ish) luckily we we top floor at end of building,so only one room to hear through cardboard walls and no one above.
Food was boring and repetitive, snack bar should be called chip bar, but found a nice restaurant in Cambrils.
Bar area smelt awful and some staff could do with learning to smile ! mind you could understand given some of the guests !
Entertainment ,not sure if it could even be called this.
Jacuzzi on 4th floor was child free which was nice but did suffer from El grumpy Bar mano.
Advice; do not speak to staff in spanish as they are not used to it and does cause some confusion, remember beer is beero and wine is vino raise your voice and do over exagerated hand movements.
overall a bit like a working mans club in the sun !!!!
Salou is very good for buying football shirts !!
My advice use hotel as a base and make use of the very good bus service and go out a lot !! You have been warned
i really enjoyed this hotel.. except
we were a party of 4 ages ranging from 18 to 63... we thought the hotel was great the staff were brill..... the only downfall was there was no lift to the lower part of the hotel for the entertainment.. we were led to beleive it was disabled freindly and it was only for the 22 steps my disabled freind had to go up and down in the evenings...the entertainment could have been a lot better... it was aimed from start to finish for children..except for the 1 hour bingo on each nite...the pa system would also need upgrading.. the food was of great standard and variety all in all we would definately go back... please get a lift or access to the bottom floor for 2006 xxx
Be Warned Dont Book!!!!!!
Booked this hotel as i have 4 kids and it was cheap. Looked nice on arrival but as soon as we entered the room, next door was banging on the walls to tell us to shut up, then popped his head over balcony to shout at my 1 year old and 3 year old, the walls paper thin, i mean thin you can hear a pin drop which is no use with small kids as you feel you need to keep them quiet, food ok but by the end of the first week it gets boring as it is the similar foods every day. pool far too small for the size of the hotel. staff were pleasant enough. smokey corridors from the bar on the bottom floor which is no good for kids. Could'nt wait to come home. we did read other reviews after we had booked but decided to go anyway as everyonehas different tastes. If you are only intrested in letting the kids run wild while you sit and get drunk at the bar then this is the holiday for you. If you are looking to spend a nice relaxing holiday with the kids then this is not the holiday for you. i should have listned to the reviews and changed holidays.
Booked this holiday with my two friends and my friends kid.
hotel rooms had plenty of space, spotless and good size balcony, hotel very nice; 2 swimming pools and plenty loungers to chill out, entertainment great for the kids think me and my two pals knew the dances better than the kids! enttertainers brill captain dave and heather!!!! hi if your'e reading!!! all bar satff really friendly, only drawback was food it was edible but we lived on chips and gravy for a week.
overall would go back!!!!!!!!!!!
dont believe all you read
myself and my partner and 2 kids 5 and 2 stayed at the molinos we have just got back and i have to say being a travel agent and reading the reviews i was worried. But the hotel was really clean the rooms were basis and yes the walls are thin but the up sides were the entertanment was good and the food good. there is a lovely beach 10 minutes away and salou a little further . We payed £360 for the family booking the flights with ryanair and the accom seperatly and for the money we payed it was well worth it. we ate and drunk as much as we liked but as with im sure alot of all inclusive hotels alot of people do go overboard. if you get a bargain price it would be worth a visit
Don't go, be warned
We have just returned from a week at this hotel 17th May--24th May and it was seven days too long. As son as you eneter the hotel the smell hits you in the face, I don't know what it is but it was like drains or something and it made me squemish for the first few days till I got used to it. Maybe the problem was that no air conditioning was on and not going on till June, it was hot and was needed. They said in the website I looked at that the hotel was recently refurbished, when in 2000?, and all rooms had a sea view, sorry to disappoint, but not so. It was not a very clean hotel, I was sitting on the balcony one day and a pile of dust fell on me from the above balcony, it was the cleaner brushing the balcony, she did not use a shovel she brushed it down onto my balcony. And the walls of the balcony had cacoon like things on them, like a spider or something, that is how well they are cleaned.
The food was ok to begin with, then after three days of the same food, snacks, it got you did not want to eat, so we went into Salou a few times and had lovely meals there.
The entertainment was garbage, nothing at all during the day except a game of bingo, no games or darts or anything, catered more for children, so if you are taking kids, it's good for them. The hotel was very, very noisy, we were on the 2nd floor and right above the kitchen, where you could hear plates and pots being rattled and staff talking loud to each other till all hours, and the same with the delivery vans, the garbage men come at night around 12:30 am and they too are very noisy. This is an extrememly noisy hotel.
Some of the guests were no better, cursing and swearing shouting and yelling till all hours, the children were no problem but I can't say the same for the adults.
The day before we left a crowd of younger people came in they were around 16 years to 20 years, and every one was drunk on arrival, and it got nasty on a few occassions and the chap in reception done nothing to stop it, a few scuffels broke out, and I feel security should have been called.
Quite a few of the guests said they were complaining when they got home, I have been doing all incusive for 9 years and my husband likes a drink on holiday just like everyone else, but we have never come across anything this bad and have had only one bad hotel before this one, some people paid only £200 for a week, we paid £380 for one week because we live in the highlands of Scotland, a rip off.
So if you have booked I really hope you have a good holiday, if you are thinking about booking, DON'T.
They say you get what you pay for, well we got more than we bargained for.
Loved the Molinos!!
Well...Although I had read a number of teriible reviews before I left for this holiday I was pleasantly surprised when we got there. I travelled to the hotel with my partner as a last minute booking from the teletext and we both loved it. The hotel is in Cap Salou and not Salou as we were told but Salou town centre is only about a 20 min walk away and there are buses that run all the time.
The hotel itself was really nice...rooms were average but is to be expected from a 3* hotel...only complaint I really have is that there are no fridges in the rooms which means that drinks etc get warm very quickly and couples be warned the walls are thin!
A lot of the complaints that I read were about the food but I thought they put on a really good spead...there was a variety of things to chose from at each sitting (including a fry up in the morning) and it was different meals each day. The drinks were also a bonus as far as I was concerned as it was real Pepsi etc...not the fake "Kola" we have had on previous all inclusive holidays. Measures are massive and I had to end up asking them for a small Vodka (and I drink my Vodka strong) which says a lot.
The entertainment at nights was better than expected...a lot for kids as the adult entertainment generally didn't start til 11pm. My favourites were the hypnotist and the comedian.
For adults and couples that can't be bothered with crazy kids running about (and they are crazy) I recommend the 4th floor which has a couple of jacuzzi's and a bar..no kids are allowed in this area and it's great place to chill in the sun and have a drink.
So all in all I really enjoyed my holiday and would definately go back given the chance. The hotel is great for families that want to relax while the kids are entertained but couples can enjoy themselves too!
If you have any more questions about the Molinos then just email me and I will be happy to help you out!
A basic hotel but in a good location.
The hotel is in a pleasant hilly location a short walk away from a few sandy beaches. There is a bus stop close by with regular buses to Cambrils, Tarragona and Reus if you fancy a day out. Barcelona is only an hour and a half away too, which is definately worth a visit seeing as you are so close.
The rooms in the hotel are basic but they were very clean although it can be very noisy at night so take some earplugs! The food was good and there was a decent variety to choose from. The staff in the restaurant were efficient e.g. they cleared up tables as soon as you were finished for the next person. There is a good sun terrace with two jacuzzis and we were told that they are building another two jacuzzis. This was a nice place to go as there were generally no children in that area. It was easy to find a sun bed on the terrace too. Usually in the more basic hotels, there aren't ever enough but we didn't have a problem getting one. The bar was very smoky however.
All in all, it is what i expected of a three star hotel. The location is the biggest plus point of this hotel if you do not want to spend all day by the pool.
Dont go!!! Plastic glasses says it all!!!
Just dont go there!!!! The Hotel H10 is around the corner and a lovely hotel or go to Salou. this hotel is at least 5 miles from town centre nothing to do. Yes i paid for a family of four and all inclusive although the drinks are free and easy flowing I still stayed one night got on the bus and paid to stay in another hotel in Salou and enjoyed the rest of my holiday. All inculsive is abused by the guests and unless you like being surrounded by people smashed out of their brains stay away!!! It is like a socia club in the sun!!!
Hotels in Salou
Has anyone statyed at the H.Top Molinos Park Hotel, if so what's it like? And how far away is the town, attractions, etc.
Thanking you in advance
Re: Hotels in Salou
Hi Phil, H Top only took over this hotel last year, so don't expect normal H Top standards yet. That said, I've stayed at Molinos twice, both times it was ok.
It's handy for Salou, La Pineda, Cambrils and Reus, all of which are worth a visit. I'd visit Tarragona too if you have time.
The hotel itself sits in Cap Salou which is pretty much self sufficient in pubs/diners. There is a mini market next door and a chemist in the village.
The main town of Salou is a 10 minute bus ride away, or a 30 minute walk but there are stops right outside the hotel.
Back to the hotel, we found it clean, in fair condition, staff were always friendly and meals had sufficient choice every night. The All Inclusive snacks weren't the best we'd seen, but again, there was enough choice every night.
There are good facilities on the roof and a roof bar too, offering decent views of the bay. Entertainment the first time was good, second time fair although there was something for all ages. It's a family hotel, so expect a lot of kids and the accompanying noise levels. The bar area is non-smoking but you can smoke outside at the pool.
Hope that helps.
