I am looking at Salou for my best mates hen weekend, we'll be going in May of next year. Can someone tell me please, is going to Salou for 4 days feasible?! How long does it take to get there from London? Is it expensive? How is the weather in May? Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend you to go to Salou by plane. Ryanair flies from London to Barcelona (Reus) which is about 10 min away from Salou by bus.

jarjar, have a look at the Ryanair website and you'll see all details about the flights. It should take a couple of hours.
But take into account that with Ryanair you should make a "dummy purchase" to get the real price (with all taxes, pluses and fees..... this is what I hate most of Ryanair). As well, they sell Reus as "Barcelona" even is more than 100 KM away. But if you want to go to Salou, Reus it's really convenient
Use a search engine like www.trabber.com or www.harefares.com to get different possibilities. You wil not find fares for May 2009 so early in advance, but yo can put some random dates and see. With low cost companies, usually the earlier you book, the better
However, weather at the beginning of May is very unpredictable, and the beach season does not really start until June. The first weekend of May will be very busy indeed due the 1st of May long weekend
I've been in Salou twice: the first with the kids, in an isolated hotel over the beach. Everything was quiet and relaxing, at least while the Italians allowed it. This time I went to a central hotel, and the beach was overcrowded. Between the two, I clearly choose the first: more shadows to read, sea at your feet... But... no shops! So, with Fernanda, town, of course!
