More about Villamarina
I was really worried about staying at the Villa Marina Hotel in Salou after reading all the reports about it but I can honestly say, I had nothing to worry about. I went with my husband and 2 children, aged 9 and 5. The only down side was the rooms were small and the balcony was small but you only spend a little time in the rooms and there were clean and it is about a 10 minute walk to the beach and if you want to go to the centre of Salou, you had to get a taxi but there was always one outside the hotel and it was only about £4. The staff were really friendly and worked very hard and the entertainment was EXCELLENT for the kids and adults and there was something to do all day and night. The all inclusive package was brilliant with a variety of food with snacks, drinks and ice-creams available when you wanted it. There is 2 pools which was great and plenty of sun beds. We loved it so much that we are thinking of going back next year for 2 weeks. I would only recomend this hotel for young families as it is great entertainment for them and if they are happy, you are happy, although there were couples staying there who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Port Aventura themepark and Costa Caribe waterpark were great and worth a visit. Hope to see you next year Villa Marina!!
Just back from Hotel Villa Marina, If you are going to take kids on holiday with you, go here, you never see them. The Entertainment staff are great, there are things to do all day within the Hotel, and the Entertainment laid on in the evenings is very good, well it was when we were there, might be a bit cheesy sometimes but watchable.
The rooms are not great but we were allocated an apartment, and they are really good, and spacious, they were cleaned every day, and boy did they have some mess to sort in the mornings. The food is good and you had a good choice every day.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, all in all a great time had by us.
Just back from Villa marina. Won't be going back! Although the staff are very nice and the food is what you would expect of an all inclusive hotel, the place was just too small for the amount of guests staying there. The rooms are small as you would expect, however the size of the bathroom was unexpected. The bath was only half the uk standard size and the bathroom was so small there was no space for the sink, hence the reason it was in the bedroom. An adult or large kid would find difficulty in having a bath there. Getting a seat to watch the entertainment at night meant wolfing down your tea to get there early and once there had to endure the heat emmanating from the amount of people packed in. Two pools both of which were small and a bit on the cloudy side for my liking. Great holiday, great location for Port Adventura, but on dirty/small side for us.
I have just returned from a week all inclusive at the Hotel Villa Marina and we have all had a brilliant time. Like everyone else i read the reviews on the internet and i was dreading getting there and being really disappointed especially as i had booked it and my partners sister and her family and his mum decided to book for the same week so i'd have felt really bad if it was as bad as reported but luckily when we arrived we all found the hotel to be really clean and everyone was really friendly. The entertaintment staff were great and the kids loved every minute. The food was really nice and there was never any chance of anyone going hungry.
Although our room was quite small it was very clean and all these people that moan about the size of the room how sad are you, who goes on holiday to sit in a room??
The entertainment was great, every night there was something different whilst i was there i saw some kind of tribal dancing, a man eating fire and even a parrot riding a bike.. now thats what i call entertaining.
we will definitely be going again next year and i would recommend it to anyone. and i would also say that whilst you are there check out Aquapolis in La Pineda its amazing!
hated every minute
Worst hotel i have ever stayed in my family and i begged for flights home.
on arriving at 10.30 pm was told by reception the hotel was over booked they said they would call for a taxi to take us to another hotel no taxi ever turned up eventually got our own at 1.30am, we had been sat all this time at the front of the hotel with two children age 4 and 2 reception staff were a joke. Children everywhere unsupervised, parents drunk, under age drinkers being sick wherever they could. Stayed in a lovely hotel for 3 days then had to return to the villa marina they still had no room so put us in self-catering apartments down the road, i thought they were staff quarters. we were told to use the back door which was hanging off the wall and the road we had to walk down was full of rubbish there was glass broken all over the road and path and it absolutely stank. We were only given 1 apartment between 6 of us when 2 seperate rooms were booked, the beds were broken the patio door wouldnt lock, and the shower was hanging off the wall it took several days to get them repaired. The apartment was never cleaned only beds made and towels changed if you were around to ask. On our first day we found you couldnt get around the pools too many people very unsafe and not very pleasant, you could not get in the dining room without queuing for ages, and you couldnt get served a drink without queuing for 20-25 minutes only to be told you could only have 2 drinks what good is this when you have young children to look after.the hotel was dirty and run down and staff were unpleasant not all but most. You have been warned dont risk going like we did it was a nightmare. Salou was a lovely place though stay near the beach if you go.
We are currently staying here and are doing our best to be moved. The rooms are tiny and ill-equipped. The kids club is a joke - you have to supervise your own kids. meals times are chaos - had to queue for 35 minutes to get a table. Food OK when you get there though. pools are tiny and you are not allowed balls or anything inflatable in there other than armbands. The room we are in is right next to a really noisy air-conditioning unit which keeps us awake all night. This is not a nice place to be. the entertainment is mediocre.
First time abroad as a family and can honestly say that the room we had at the villamarina was very large, clean and in excellent condition. It's true that you have to queue up for your meals but given the volume of people staying there I would say that is to be expected. Beach only 10 minutes walk with plenty of shops along the way.
I booked our five night all inclusive break at VillaMarina as a last minute online deal. I was slightly concerned having read the neagtive and extremely picky reviews. Having stayed at the resort with my boyfriend we were completley satisfied with the VillaMarina. We were placed in one of the self contained apartments, which although i was hesitant at first, provided a lovely setting for our holiday. The apartment was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and linen. There was no air con in our room, but we were able to borrow a fan which made it more bearable! The food was abundant but somewhat limited. The hotel is 3 star and clearly caters for families with children. Evening entertainment was fin,e we spent most evenings in Salou town, so didn't really see much. Having spoken to a few guests that were staying in the actual hotel, we realised we were lucky to be in suck a nice apartment, aparently the hotel rooms were quite small (though air conditioned). A cab from the airport to hotel was 25 euros, and took about ten minutes. I would recomend anybody book an exursion into Barcelona, this cost 35 euros each and was a fabulous day out! Salou beach is very clean and child friendly. To conclude - if you want a five star hotel, book a five star hotel. The VillaMarina is cheap and cheerful!
value for money
We were not looking forward to going because of all the reviews, I would honestly say I have stayed in 5 star hotels many times, and the food here was better than any of them, and the entertainment too, they had top acts every night, the only complaint is the rooms are very small, whatever you do don't book 3 adults into 1 twin room, as the third bed is a camp bed, my son of 14 is 6'1" tall, he couldn't sleep in it. What you have to remember is what you have paid, it was well worth the money, they do a free bus shuttle to the beach every day, and the shops are only 10 minutes walk away. I wouldn't stay there in high season, because the day we arrived on the friday had loads of kids and I must say it was quite messy and irritating, but the next morning they had all gone back too school, what a different picture. It is clean, good food but basic, what do you want for what you are paying!!! By the way get to the pool by 8 or don't bother!!!!
it was terrible kids running all over smashing everthing up it was in the middle of no where you have to get a taxi every where you go i could not wait to come home

villa marina club hotel
will be staying here for two weeks all inc, anyone tell me whats it like, 9 of us going 7 adults 2 children of 14 yrs, heard some horror stories but some good reports to.
RE: villa marina club hotel
hi, i have just come back from this hotel 2 weeks ago. i have to say that it was not a very nice hotel - when we first got there we were given a room with only one double bed for the three of us, so then we were moved to a different room which was even worse as it stunk of sewerage, so then we were given another room with no air conditioning as it was broken and remained broken for the rest of our holiday. When the brouchure says free ice cream what it really means is that you get only the little pots of ice cream free, the better ice creams you have to pay for. Also we were by the pool and my son came up to us with blood pouring from his foot as he had cut it on broken tiles in the pool, there was a dead rat found in one of the pools, you are not aloud to stay in the bar area past 12am as security guards come and tell you to leave. One morning we were eating our cereal when we discovered that the milk was sour and the food was usually very bland. So as you can see we did not have a very good time at this hotel, i would recommened you to not go to this hotel as it was also quite dirty in places. The only reason that i would go back to this hotel would be for the entertainment as that was brilliant. I hope that i have helped you to decide what you would like to do.

RE: Villa marina and Sanguli??
came back from villa marina today, please be careful especially if taking kids. all sorts was wrong with hotel from lifts not working to nothing to do for the kids.sorry to put a dampner on things but also there is a tiny room by the main bar with two kids rockers in it,keep kids away as there is an entrance to a main road and a little girl was nearly taken by three black men who pulled up in a car.also be VERY wary on trains as on way back from barcelona my partner and i were pick pocketed...my purse and his camera with all holiday pics on.
im planning on booking an holiday to salou in september staying at the villa marina hotel before i book as anyone got any info about the hotel + while im there i want to take a day trip to barceona iv heard the easiest way to get ther is by train but where in salou do i get the train + do i get the train to go to portaventora
There is a train station in the north side of town (~15 minute walk from beach).
Train ticket to Barcelona is ~7 EUR.
and the train also goes to Port Aventura, but I do not know the cost.
A bus would be very slow. You could also rent a car and drive, but that would cost a huge amount more than the train.
