Travel Tips for Sitges

October. Festival Internacional de Cinema

by Labrix

Did you know that the most important festival of fantastic cinema is made in Sitges?

They celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2007. So, if you like the horror and fantastic films, Sitges is the right place and beginning of October is the right moment.

Modernista Architecture

by MM212

Sitges boasts a large number of modernista architecture built mostly in the early 20th century. Naturally so as this was the time when such architecture was fashionable and became an expression of Catalan nationalism. The best examples (see attached photos) are located on Passeig de la Ribera (the corniche) and within l'Eixample district.

Sitges: Our favorite escape from stress

"Sitges: Our favorite escape from stress"

Well, Sitges is full of tourist, but it is kind of unknown for most people. Maybe this is good, because this way It´ll keep its charm. This beach town is about 30 mins away from Barcelona by highway, but the best way to go, is by the the coast where you´ll see very impressive views and even a Gaudi designed house.
We come here just to walk on the white sand while having an ice cream, but there is a lot of artists and you may find great clothes and/or jewelry. The artwork we have at home was done here and we even have a picture with the artist. There are also great restaurants and semi-nude beaches.
If you come on a Saturday or Sunday, you may find us: Look for the two having an ice cream holding hands at sundown. Our favorite, closest romantic escape

Filthy and overpriced

by troll69

"Overrated"

We'd been to Sites bfore, but nothing prepared us for this trip. Trash pile din the streets, building works in nearly every location in the middle of summer: you could harldy hear yourslef think. The prices everywhere are also way higher thanin previous years

"Sitges used to be great"

Sitges used to be somehtin g special. Now it is just another overpriced 3rd rate rip-off. There is nowhere to park (don't rent a car), the waiters are all surly and the onl things to see intown are banks and estate-agents. A couple of years ageo there used to be galleries and intersting boutiquesm bow it is wal-to-wal banks and estate-agentcies.
