Hotel Platja D'Or or galeon hotel? For NICE budget travling

by jarrodbeck

I will be traveling to sitges for the first time in early august. I plan on going to the clubs at night and laying by the beach durring the day. Does anyone know if the galeon hotel or the Hotel Platja D'Or are good places. Also where else would you suggest.

I was in Sitges with a bunch of friends last year. Stayed at the hotel Galleon and found it perfectly clean and comfortable. Rooms had decent airconditioning and my room in the Annex also had a decent sized balcony. Location was good but then Sitges is that small that it's never too far to walk anywhere. If I ever returned there I certainly wouldn't mind staying at the Hotel Galleon again.

Paul.

Hi there - I stayed at the hotel platja d'or in May. The rooms are of a very good standard and the hotel as a whole is very clean with friendly staff and a nice roof terrace bar. The location is excellent - right on the seafront and round the corner from the main bar/restaurant area. The only downside is the food - the breakfast buffet is great but the evening meals are an aquired taste! Thankfully they post the next days meal in advance so you can plan to avoid it!
The Galeon is the sister hotel so I expect its similar standards wise.
Sitges is a great place - have a nice holiday!

Travel Tips for Sitges

Bar El Cable

by Labrix

Do you want to know what all this people are doing in the street? Is it a demonstration? Is it a "botellón"? No way...

They're at "El Cable". This tapas bar is open since 1940 and it's a meeting point for the people of Sitges. It's so popular that, if inside it's full, people don't mind to stay in the street.

They're in Carrer Barcelona, number 1. You can easily arrive there taking the Carrer Barcelona from the Platja Sant Sebastià or taking the Carrer de L'aigua from the Carrer Major, both of them will bring you directly to the corner of this bar. Don't try to go by car, it's much better by foot.

And don't miss to order "croquetas" (made with chicken, paté and bread), absolutely wonderful!

esglesia de sant bartolmeu i santa tecla

by call_me_rhia

This is Sitges most visible landmark, and one of the most impressive too. This "esglesia de sant bartolmeu i santa tecla" is a little baroque jewel on top of a tiny hill. The best views can be had from the beach below - and from afar, too. Inside it's not really that spectacular - but from the outside it really dominates to landscape (and townscape). Right behind it there's a quaint lane filled with wonderful buildings and interesting museums! Definitely my Stges highlight.

A nice sea village not far from Barcellona

by oriettaIT

We choose Sitges for a one day trip during our stay in Barcellona. It was a great experience, the beaches is long and clean. There are plenty of beach facilities. The village is nice and there are some interesting museum and views.

"A SEASIDE RESORT"

About 40 minutes by train from Barcelona ( Station Sants). Popular with the gay crowd, and other families too. There are beaches. Did not have time to walk to the gay beach or the nude beach. They are on the far end.
The old town is a charm. The museums are delightful.

"MUSEU MARICEL"

Part of the former residence of Charles Deering now forms the Maricel Museum.

"Old Town, Sitges"

Don't miss the museums.
