Evening tranfer Barcelona to Sitges

by andri

Hi,

I will come in Barcelona with a train from Madrid. However, my train will come in Barcelona almost midnight (around 11:20 p.m.). I need to go directly to Sitges for a conference.

How about taking a taxi from Barcelona train station to Sitges? Are there possibility some taxi driver that like to go to Sitges almost midnight? How much doest it cost approximately?

If I like to continue using a train from Barcelona to Sitges after 11 p.m., is it still possible?
Is it difficult to get taxi in Sitges station to go to my hotel?

I really appreciate the answers.

Thank you,

Andri Lubis

Ok. The LAST TRAIN to Sitges departs from Sants station at 23h27 from PLATFORM 10. You have to take the train that goes direction Vilanova i la Geltrú or to Sant Vicenç de Calders (through Sitges, not through Vilafranca).

I think that at this time the ticket sales window are going to be closed, so you have to buy the ticket in the automatic machine, they're marked with a "C" (cercanías in Spanish). If you want to buy a single ticket you have to choose the destination (Sitges, obviously) and if you want to buy a T-10 card (valid for 10 trips) you have to buy the "3 zones" one (Advise-> It's easier and faster to buy the T-10 card, it's more expensive, but you can use it in future trips from Sitges to Barcelona and it's valid for all the kind of transports). I think that, before taking a taxi, you should try to take the train, sometimes it's delayed and maybe you have time of taking it.

If you loose the train, there's a taxi stop in Sants station, but bear in mind that it's going to be veeeeeery expensive. I never took a taxi for going from BCN to Sitges, but I think that the cost can be about 80 euros, or maybe more.

Anyway, there's a cheaper option, to take the night bus, for arriving to the street from where they depart you have to go by train until Plaça Catalunya. I think that it can be a little bit uncomfortable, in any case, here I let you my tips about transport to Sitges, maybe you find something interesting.

Good luck!

As posted, night travel is a bit more difficult, but possible.

I've taken the night buses to Tarragona. I'd try to avoid it if you have a lot of luggage. If you have small bags, its a possibility.

To make a long story short, I have also had to take taxis from Barcelona to Tarragona. Taxi between those two was about 120EUR, so I would also agree that Barcelona to Sitges may be about 80EUR.

Hi,

I have no idea, but here you can find information about taxis in Sitges
http://sitgestur.cat/content/30_29_30/Sitges_taxi-bus/

There's a pair of phone numbers, if you want to call, you have to add first 00 34, and later the rest of numbers.

Regards.

Travel Tips for Sitges

September. Festa petita, Santa Tecla

by Labrix

Santa Tecla's day is the 23 of September and, if Sant Bartomeu is the patron of Sitges, she is the patroness. So here we go again: concerts, "castellers", "diables", the "drac" (dragon) and "aliga" (eagle), "gegants", typical dances and many, many other things.

The day of the fireworks is on 22 of September at 23:00 h. They do it also from the church area.

Even that Santa Tecla is "la festa petita" (the small celebration) I like it a lot, as is possible to enjoy with a lot of traditions and is not as full of people as Sant Bartomeu days.

Port d'Aiguadolç

by Labrix

This is one of the places attended by people with a good economic position, but it's also a quiet place where you can have a nice walk, see some beautiful boats, have lunch/dinner in some of their restaurants or a drink in one of their pubs by night.

Walking from the town centre you'll spend about 15-20 min. to arrive. Once there, you'll see that it's a little bit labyrinthian, but this is part of its charm. You can also go by car, but you'll have to pay for the parkplace.

Sitges

"Oh I do like to be beside the seaside..."

The beach at Sitges is long, sandy and clean. There are a couple of museums but otherwise I am nots ure what one does here. Apparently Carnaval is a good time to visit. When I was here it was dead which meant it was nice and quiet but I was pleased I was only staying the one night.

The gay capital of southern Europe

by Maidstoneman

"Unbelieveable"

Imagine the gay quarter of any cosmopolitan city and then imagine the same atmosphere in an olde-worlde mediterranean fishing town, and you have Sitges. The town is absolutely full of gay men and it makes a change not to be in the minority!
