beautifeul food selection at dinner and breakfast

Looking for my seaview hotel i bumped into a good friend who was on a cheap package holiday here and so ended up paying 12 euros for a night in their tripple room. This paid for anexcellent dinner in the restaurant .had veal and hey it was really good ..In fact the entire meal was superb.
pool yard was a lovely suntrap really exotic planted out and the bar was cheap ,in fact all the hotels offer cheap drinks to undercut the exotic bars.

Unique Quality: excellent breakfast buffet in abundance.

Far better than I imagined

For a really cheap deal, I was expecting a pretty grotty place.
However, the public rooms of the Galeon are rather elegant, a little dated but that sort of adds to the old world charm. Breakfast surprisingly good too.
Bedroom spotlessly clean -a bit basic but hey.... Try staying in the backstreets of Athens....
Position is perfect. Ok, no great views unless you're lucky enough to overlook the pretty poolside garden. But only 5 mins from the station. 5 euros return to Barcelona (25 mins) -so a perfect haven to come back to after a day in this wonderful city.
I've booked again for a September break, and have recommended this little gem to friends.

Unique Quality: Friendly staff
Very good mix of clientele - families, young, gay couples, elderly all co-existing happily
Pool garden is really pretty, and nice furniture too!

good position, freezing pool

Like so many other people, we had booked for the El Cid, but been "upgraded" to the Galeon a wek before arrival. They do this because both (and the Platjour on the seafront) belong to the same company and if bookings are low they consolidate.
Both parts of the Galeon (main hotel and Pavilion) have some building work during 2007, the guys dont seem to start until 8!
Room was just about big enough for 2. Breakfast was from a good buffet selection, mainly cold - but certainly a good spread.
The hotel is just 5 mins from the station, from where you can get to the airport, Barcelona and beyond, and Tarragona. The beaches are about 10 mins away (not the 5 they claim), but the town, shops, eateris, supermarkets (small) are within 5 mins.
The biggest problem with the hotel is the pool - very small and VERY cold.

Unique Quality: Just a good price (espcially if you've only paid for the El Cid), and a good position, just out f the nightlife.
