Sitges is known very well for it's night life. Small streets are almost empty during the day, but you have to come and see by night, when many pubs and bars are open and people are very kind.

I will be spending five days in Sitges in August with my family.
Any recommendations of restaurants that are off the tourist path. Also my 17-year-old son was wondering if there are any nightclubs worth a visit.
Thanks!
I can't figure the words "Sitges" and "off the tourist path" and "August" on the same sentence ;o)
Sitges is a small place, so tourists are everywhere. This does not mean there may be good "local" places, but honestly I still have to find these (and I've been there many times).
However, your son is lucky as the best nightclubs of the area are there (even I'm a bit out of the circuit now so I can't give recent advice). You'll find flyers at the shops and pubs of the main streets of Sitges (around Cap de la Vila).
Quite different, but may be of your interest, there are usually summer open-air concerts at "Raco de la Calma" and "El Retiro" and maybe other places. Ask at the tourist office or at the city council on your arrival
If you want to go to a less touristy place, go to Vilanova i la Geltrú, the next town South. It will be busy in August of course, but it receives more Spanish tourism.
Have a look here: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/42b95/3d0dd/
(yes, it's my Vilanova's VT page... shameless plug!)
By the way, in August there are many local festivals, depending on your travel dates: Vilanova around 5 August, Sitges, Cubelles and La Geltrú around 15 august, Vilafranca del Penedes by the end of the month (just to name a few)

a wonderful, fantastic, excellent art museum! First of all the location, inside the house of the modernist artist Santiago Rusiñol: look at the original furniture and architectural solutions: if you, like me, are fond of modernism, you'll love it.
If you're not fond of modernism, but like Spanish paitings, you'll love it, too. There's an impressive art collection, with paintings by Picasso, Zuloaga, Isidre Nonell, Dario de Regoyos, Ramon Casas, Miquel Utrillo and Anglada Camarasa and, last but not least, El Greco!
At the end of XVIII century people from Sitges crossed the Atlantic to go to Cuba to look for fortune. When coming back to Sitges they invested part of their savings on building mansions.
Take in the tourist office a brochure with the itineray. You’ll discover very varied and intersting architecture in Sitges (Neo-classicisme romantique, Eclectisme, Art Nouveu and Noucentisme).
This medievel meditereanan village is highly walkable and the charm of that alone is delightful with no traffic and lots of artists, art galleries and artistically thought out bars, restaurants and plazas.
Every year we have a few days when we go back the early 1900s, by the means of this traditional classic cars ride. Today, they all come from Barcelona to this little village, a 30km ride that all of them (well, most of them) do on their own wheels, although some are more than a century old...
They come from all around the world, but mostly from Europe, and some from North America (arrived by plane, of course :)
Not only the cars seem new as if they had just left factory by this year, but also people riding on them is dressed by the aged fashion of those times...
Some sports cars also were present
Some fine decorated...
Look at this old engine! It's amazingly simple, and the oldest I've ever seen on a vehicle with rubber tires :)
These people come year after year, some still are real firemen, maybe the grandsons of their original drivers...
And also some luxury, although that doesn't mean they are less kind with people attending :)
This year is the centennial of this car builder: Hispano Suiza. Once a mighty manufacturer, dissapeared a long time ago... but we still can contemplate the magnificence of some of their works...
