On the Beach

by JREllison about Estival Park - La Pineda

We used a time share trade to get into Estival Park so I can't talk about the price, but it was a great place to stay! Swimming pools, Tennis courts, Gated enterance to the apartments and all this right on the beach.

The hotel has a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, we ate breakfast every morning and were thrilled with the food. Skipped lunch and ate dinner three times. Dinner was from 7:30 - 10:00 which was a little on the late side for us but for the most part the food was good. Breakfast is free and dinner was very reasonable.

We used the hotel as a travel agent but heard a lot of "it is not possible" from non english speaking hostess but every time we came back when an english speaking hostess was on and found out that anything we asked for was possible.

we have just returned from estival park la pinada. staying in the hotel itself, not an apartment. from the moment we arrived we were impressed, the foyer is beautiful with a huge chandelier taking centre stage.the staff all of the ones we had contact with all were smiling, happy and most helpful, even when i left my purse in a taxi, three phones calls and it came back ..intact.....we travelled with shearings not for the faint hearted, you must be a dedicated coachie to go so far travelling through the night! we went on a trip to barcelona, the small part we saw wasnt good because of all the beggars, and we [my pal and i ]almost lost our money to flower sellers with very nimble fingers so beware!!!!
estival parc is purpose built outside of salou and is agood taxi ride to the main town about 15 euros or a couple of euros on a bus the shops outside the complex were all closed [out of season]the food was to me anyway. wonderful..and no dishes to wash.plenty of choice even for food faddies .we paid £219 all inclusive.. a very good holiday but next time we fly!!!!!

Well worth a visit!!

Just got back from the hotel Estival Park 2. I travelled with my wife and (nearly!) 3 year old son. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and found the rooms to be clean and well maintained and the staff pretty helpfull and happy. Because we went late in the season there was no entertainment at our hotel but we were not too concerned as we put the little man to bed around nine anyway and just enjoyed a drink on the balcony. We found the hotel pretty qiuet at times but thought the pool was still a bit small for the size of hotel. Being half board, the food was very good and varied for the breakfast and evening but I don't know about the lunch.Be aware though that the restaurant does not open until 7.30 in the evening which can be a bit of a pain for the younger children. La Pineda is a small place and very quiet as it was the end of the season and be warned that the nearby water park was closed when we went (16/10). Portaventura is excellent and quite reasonably priced with little or no queus at this time and the buses to Salou, Portaventura and other local towns/villages are regular and very cheap. Even the trip to Barcelona (1 HR away) was not too pricey and we enjoyed a quick city tour as there is too much to see on foot in one day. Check out the Hard Rock Cafe as the food is excellent and has a lively atmosphere. All in all we enjoyed our stay and found enough to do with beaches and towns nearby but would not like to spend any more than a week there. In short, a good hotel and an enjoyable location and a good time to visit at the end of the season.

"superb"

Travelled with Ryanair from Liverpool after their worrying documentary was aired on TV.Could not be further from the truth as far as our trip was concerned, they were excellent and punctual. I travelled with my wife and 2 yr old son which cost me £373 for 1 week all inc.all booked separately on the internet. (£22 each to fly). The standard of the room, food and drink's etc was absolutely superb. I have travelled extensively to long haul destinations in the past paying far more than this and ended with a lot less for my money. Yes it was out of season and most things were shut but we went knowing this.
Due to the age of my son I liked the short ten minute by coach trip from Reus airport. This was approx 6 euros.(the bus was waiting for us when we got there.(not prebooked)Taxi drivers try to pounce on you before you see the coaches so beware!!!!.

All in all we had a great time, we felt let down by some young brits who were constanly drunk and trashed their room before leaving. We truly hope the hotel got some money back from these idiots!!!!!!!!
Considering going next year but possibly in March where things start may begin to come to life.
P.S. check out the indoor heated pool, brilliant especially the swimming caps you have to wear (not!)

A North Wales traveller.

weather in February?

by bobbiearnel

Hi-- We are considering exchanging our timeshare for a week at Estival Park. What is the weather in Tarragona in mid February? Would this be a good choice for a family with a 17 year old daughter? Will there be enough to keep us busy for a week? Will it be too cold to do the water park or swim in the pool in February? How is the resort overall? Any info you can provide to help us make this decision would be appreciated. We would like to go to Spain during our February vacation, but the timeshare exchange availablity is very limited. Estival Park is available, and looks like a lovely place on paper. Thanks so much for your help.

I'm afraid it will be pretty miserable. Cold and wet. Most things for holidaymakers will be closed. Your daughter will hate it and so, probably, will you.
If you want to go to Spain at that tjme of year, you have to go right down south.

Colin is right. February is winter, not so cold as NYC can be... but you could not swim in the pool (unless it's a indoor pool) or sea, and of course all waterparks and other "summer things" will be closed (included many restaurants, clubs...) By the way Estival Park does mean Summer Park... the name says it all!

You will have better chances of beach weather in the coast of Andalusia (and even there some areas are too cold in February). Your best bet will be Canary Islands, and they have many interesting things apart from beaches if you dare to explore. Or choose any city destination in Spain where you may find other activities.
