Hotel Placa de la Font

Again, having lived in Tarragona for years, I walked by here hundreds of times. A couple visiting colleagues stayed here and liked it, so when I came back to visit, I tried it too.

The rooms are small and cozy, yet comfortable enough. Basically the entire hotel layout is small, the rooms, the bathrooms and the elevator. Its fine for anyone except for those in a wheel chair.

If you get one of the rooms facing the Plaza, you'll have a wonderful view of the square, its cafes and if you have a top level room, you'll also be able to see the church by the Hospital Sant Pau i Santa Tecla.

Unique Quality: There is free WiFi, but only in the lobby area. There is a public parking garage immediately under the Plaza with access by the hotel's door, however the hotel does not give any discount or validation for parking fees. Breakfast (if you choose to include in your room rate) will be a very small sandwich and drink so in my opinion, maybe not worth the cost.

Directions: On the north side of the Placa de la Font, immediately next to the public parking garage.

A small budget hotel** with 5 floor (4 rooms per floor) in a central location.
The room was not so large but clean with an efficient and silencious air conditionning. A small TV was operational but only with spanish channels. There was a shower and no fridge to keep the local cervezas cool ;-(

Do not forget your earplugs if you are not a nightbird as many bars in the front of the hotel closed around 2/3AM or if you want to do a siesta... Fortunately I took the Spanish schedule, so when coming back to sleep, do not forget to ring the bell loudly as the night doorkeeper was deaf... all the sleeping guests will be please to hear this nightly serenade... so try to come back the last ;-)

The reception staff could hardly speak other language that Spanish or Catalan... I tried French, English, German, Italian and finally Mano language ;-) So learn a survival Spanish vocabulary to survive as I did ;-)

Price is EUR 60 per a double room per night. Breakast + EUR 5.- if you could wake up before 11AM...

Excellent location on Plaça de la Font, a pedestrian square which offer many tapas bar, restaurants with large terraces and all convenient services as small supermarket, ice cream shop, bank, pharmacy...
