More about Tossa Beach Hotel
good but food was awful
just got back from a week at the Hotel tossa center, on arrival me and my frend were under the influence that we was going to be stayin in the tossa beach hotel, but they told us that we had been moved accvross the road to the tossa center, which has just recently been refurbished and i couldn't have asked for a better room, the bed wer comfortable and the bathroom was lovely only problem was ther was no shower curtain so the floor got rather wet and near had a couple of accidents getting out of the shower. we was also underthe impression that we wasnt going to get a balcony as we chose not toi pay the extra for it ,which we did get but we cud only see the next door apartments so not a terrific view. the staff wer extremely freindly always especially the lady in the tossa center hotel and mikel the guy with the moustache in the behind the bar at tossa beach hotel. the security guards weren't too frendly. the pools aren't too great but passable, the food god wer do i start it was terrible only ate in ther a few times was sick from eating the chiken so after that just stuck to chips n salad, but there are plenty af rteasonable restaurants roundabout, theres a club up the street caklled tu rai which is open at wkends till 4 i fink, not far from lloret if u wanted to go clubbin , beach wasnt particularly nice to walk on, met lots of lovely people a holiday to remember just make sure u get a room in tossa center tho cos i went up to see wat the rooms wer like in the tossa beach hotel n they werent too great to be honest looked rather out dated. newayz hope iv bored u enuf now lol, o yea one more thing theres a bowling alley not far from the hotel which u must visit as the lady who owns the place is lovely
Good Value for Money - Very Clean
I was a bit dubious about staying in this hotel especially with some of the comments. However we turned up and were told we were staying in the sister hotel (Tossa Centrer) across the road. Im pleased we were as this has recently been renovated and was very clean.
The bedroom we were given had 2 double beds crammed into it. As a bit of advice ask for a larger room. For an extra Eur 10/day (Approx £6.90) you can upgrade and get double balcony and a triple sized bedroon.
All food and entertainment are back across the road in the Tossa Beach Hotel. To be honest I thought the food was good (for the price we paid) and although it became a bit of a game to see what some of the lunchtime dishes came back at night as, it was all generally fresh and edible !!
The pools at both hotels are a bit crammed in and the sunshine doesnt get onto the Tossa Beach hotel until at least midday, but for the kids and a quick refreshing dip they were fine.
At night didnt really get into the entertainment in the Tossa Beach Hotel (good or bad) its no smoking (and I smoke) and secondly Butlins style enterntainment is not my thing. It is much quieter, higher quality and more relaxing in the Tossa Centre Bar. Both Hotels are non smoking but you can smoke around pool area and terraces.
Tossa De Mar as a place is really nice and very Spanish with cobbled streets, cafes, shops and bars. I would say it more more upmarket than your usual resort along the coast.
All in all for the money we paid, I thought the Hotel was great value for money but it did help staying in the Tossa Centre across the road !!!!
Dont go to this hotel
DON'T GO THERE!!!
Tossa de Mar is a wonderful resort hidden away in the beautiful hills of the Costa Brava this costal resort is a perfect quiet holiday. The old town shops are full of little gems, beautiful clothes and ornaments small art and confectionary shops litter the town. Not to be missed is the ferry which runs from the beach every 30 minutes or so we took it to Lorett de mar a great trip Lorett is a much busier resort and for the girls you must go to the beach cocktail bar topless male waiters serve the best super duper cocktails in the world what a laugh we had there GREAT FUN.
The Tossa Beach Hotel take my advice don’t go there the place is appalling we where there all-inclusive the first week in June 07 the hotel is clean the room seemed small reception staff are friendly. The corridors are small the pool is the smallest iv ever seen for a hotel enclosed in a court yard at one point one evening the pool man “I think” a man from reception and the manager where trying the pool water with a chemical test which went red the manager then bent down scooped some water up in his hand and took a mouth full and to our disgust spat it all out in the pool near where some children where playing, the staff on the hole where dreadful not friendly in the slightest the cleaners abrupt and would barg past the bar staff dismissive and un friendly .Now the food this slop was horrid the stew type things had a film on them like a custard cooling down the rice pudding tasted of dirty washing water nothing was hot, nothing was chilled the horrible stench as you descended to the restaurant was gut wrenching this resulted in one of our party becoming very ill and myself nauseous we give up eating there at all Iv heard people say you get what you pay for we paid for all inclusive edible food was what we paid for don’t go to the Tossa beach.
I travelled to the tossa beach with my two children in May. I dont know if these other reviews are even about the same hotel! We had a smashing time, the food had a gret selection especially for the kids. Tossa de mar itself is amazing, loads of really friendly bars and restaurants, it also has one of the cleanest beaches ive seen on the costa brava. Me and my family all agreed we'd go back tommorow
got to tossa beach and was welcomed with vacant and unhelpfull staff, i had requested a room with a balcony when booking so went to the room and found i had no balcony, i opened the window to look out and was greeted with a metal bar, as i leaned on the bar it became detatched from the wall it was screwed to, i then went to reception to ask where my balcony was, i was advised that no balconies left and i had to stay where i had been placed, not happy i had discussion with hotel manager who was again uninterested and vacant he just blamed my travel agent, after long heated talks he agreed to move me over the road to its sister hotel for 170 euros which i reluctantly had to pay becuase the original room was horrible and had not been decorated for years and had a nasty niff to it, on going over to the new hotel it was moden and nice and i was given a choice of room so i thought it was getting better, i then went to what i called was a prison canteen for tea where the food was what i could only describe as terrible and all looked the same even though the pictures above suggested otherwise, the canteen also had a bad smell again i could only describe as fishy, we then went back for lunch the day after for snacks only to find it was the same as the tea the night before, we then went back for tea and it was the same again only they had changed spagetti bolognase to tomatoe pasta, i then there never ate for the whole remaining holiday, however the resort was FANTASTIC and the bars and restaurants excellent, will be going again most definatley but not to the TOSSA BEACH HOTEL
Nice wee break
We stayed in the Tossa Beach for 5 days from 14 May 2007. Just a wee break to give us peace from the kids ( and to annoy the grandparents who had to put up with them in our absence)
Lovely wee place, very cheap deal through Globespan and did the trick.
The food is well presented and fresh, it might not be everyone's cup of tea but when you're paying what you pay, smile and get on with it.
The bar staff and restaurant staff are friendly enough and you get free snacks during the day as well as meals. Drinks are fine.
We chose to go on a wander in Tossa during the day and some nights and found some cracking local bars ( Bar Josep and Bar Don Juan) both are so friendly and at times we were the only foreigners in. Beer very cheap in Josep and wine even cheaper, 50c for large glass or red. Really great atmosphere with the local guys/ girls taking the pi** out of each other. I would recommend.
Have a great time in Tossa- a lovely wee place
dont eat the food
it started bad ryan air is just a money making scam ie luggage allowance running down the runway for good seats on the plane, then resort hopper did not turn up for us at the airport we stood and waited for nearly two hours then when they did turn up the driver did nt know were he was going but never mind we were in spain we got of the bus at the top of the road and walked down to the hotel we were delighted when we got told we had been upgraded to the hotel tossa centre over the road the room was clean and quite nice actually we then went over the road for our dinner down the stairs to the restaurant we could smell an awful stench then realised it was the food they were serving an awful fishy potatoey off smell the place was clean the food was cold not impressed with the washing up liquid in the coffee but it was the first night breakfast was ok then lunch awful dinner worse my friend tried the rice pudding and had to spit it out it was dirty dish water with rice in it left a metalic taste in the mouth all sat night i was throwing up we skipped the rest of the meals as did quite a few other people i think there must have been a problem with the swimming pool as the manager was drinking some then spat it back out into the pool lovely the entertainment was extremely bad the coffe in the plastic cups did not go down well and i am not to fond of drunk men letching over little girls the staff is pleasant enough but the hotel is bad it should not be 3 star more like a 2 if it was self catering it would be fine but major problems ion this hotel tossa de mar is a beautiful place very quant very nice and traditional the people are lovely for a small price you can go over to lloret on the ferry a larger town i would definately gop back to tossa but not to the tossa beach or tossa centre
Really bad place to stay and then they con you. Watch Out
We went to this hotel on the 12th may we flew with ryan air never again, the staff didnt seam to care about any one but them selfs and i stood and watched them and they were just taking the mick out of everyone and laughing, the pilot never spoke at all on the way there or back and the cabin crew were no help at all, as i said never again.
Once we got to tossa it was much the same at there airport, we had to search for ages looking for the coach, once we got to the coach there was no rep and the bloke that was there could not speak a word of english which didnt help at all.
We had an hours drive to the hotel and once we reached the hotel they dropped us at the bottom of the road and we had to walk quite a way up to the hotel with our bags, which i thought was a little disapointing.
Got to the hotel and went to reception where the person behind there told us where our room was, we went up to our room and it was lovely, could not fault the room at all.
the maid was not very nice as she come in when she liked in the morning if you was in or not. the food was terrible, always cold or if you went down late there was nothing left and they would not make or give you anything else. the food stopped early at lunch and at night, all inclusive holiday and you really just get a bed and breakfast if your lucky.
we made the most of the rest of the week, i found all the people around the island were very rude, and you were very lucky if you got any off the staff that could speak english or spanish in the hotel, most were polish or other.
on leaving the hotel we went down the road to catch the coach, we were there in plenty of time but it did not show, we waited for ages and then rang them and the coach driver said that he came in to the hotel and were not there, so we headed back up to the hotel and asked
them but no one would say anything, i asked them about the coach driver coming up and if they could write or say if he had been, but no one would say a word. the manager came out and said you get taxi, he rang one and i said i was going out for a smoke and the taxi was already there, it came in less than a minute. it was like a con between the coach, hotel and taxi, and it cost us an extra 50 euros (but we had already paid the tranfer fees in with the holiday package. We were not the only people they had done this to, they had done this to alot of couples over the week while we had been there but we didnt think any thing at the time.
They seem to only be doing this to couples, so please BEWARE of this scam, when we got back home the holiday company didnt want to know about it, so we just lost alot of money.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS SCAM AS IT COULD ALSO COST YOU ALOT OF MONEY AND UPSET.
Great resort, average hotel
Very basic hotel in a great location, close to the beach and close to the town. Hotels pools and sunbed areas are small and don't get the sun for too long, but didn't matter as the nice beach is so close anyway. Food pretty ropey, but has choice of about 3/4 main courses + salad etc
Young kids seemed to enjoy themselves (ours was a party of 4, 2 adults & 2 kids, the oldest being 14 got a bit bored as the entertainment is aimed at the younger ones)
Staff were fine if you are fine with them & they probably get sick of girls treating them like dirt.
Would go back to the resort but would try another hotel. Good value though when you consider how cheap it was.
Fantastic! Had Great Time
Stayed here with a group of 8 people (4 adults 4 children aged 5-14). Had a grea time, food was really good standard different choice everynight. Only couple of minutes walk from eveywhere, loads to do in the resort centre, Decent entertainment programme, great for families and couples.
Definetely would go back anytime!!
Booked through medinland on teletext with lisa, really cheap company

Re: tossa beach hotel
I just have to ask: you know it's the almost winter in Catalunya now, right? Hardly beach weather.
Re: tossa beach hotel
Yes, these last days we are having temperatures below zero! Tossa area is VERY windy, so go well prepared, warm clothes under a windbreaker and good warm shoes, or you'll freeze. The good news are the temperatures are expected to rise a little over the next days. The bad news is that probably will rain.
Said that, I spent a couple of nice Christmas vacations in Tossa many years ago, before I moved to Barcelona (so I was missing the seaside even in winter). It was perfect base to explore many interesting places in the area: Empuries, Sant Pere de Roda, Cadaqués, Besalú... or crossing the French border to Colluire and the Côte Vermeille. We had our car so it was easy to move around, but I guess most of these places may be reached by bus. Ask at the local tourism office or at the city council (maybe the tourist offices are closed out of season)
