Any Need to Buy a Ferry Ticket in Advance?
by Venelin
Hi.
I am planning to take a ferry from Ceuta to Algeciras on a Sunday evening in late September. I have no fixed schedule for the day yet, but I would still prefer a certain departure time. That is why I would like to ask you if there is any need to buy the ticket in advance, be it online or on arrival in Ceuta. Do they "run out" of tickets? I'm asking this because I saw that all companies offer a "reserved seat on board", which could theoretically mean that seats are limited in number and a Sunday evening might be a problem.
I guess other ferries across the Strait of Gibraltar have the same tickets, so advice on these will probably guide me for the Ceuta-Algeciras line, too.
Thank you in advance
Venelin

John from Oz - that's exactly what the poster is doing !
Also getting some tips from real people as well.
I have not personally travelled from Ceuta to Algeciras but know that if going as a foot passenger the and not with car or in a group of passengers, then I would not bother to make any prior reservation unless I had a very tight schedule at the other end - for example had to make Algeciras at a certain time in order to catch a long distance bus or train.
Did you look at the numbers of ferries that cross from Ceuta each day ? Quite a number.

I have travelled Ceuta-Algeciras and concur with Nige, no need in late September to book before, although on a Sunday evening you may have more "mainland" Spaniards going home. Even if you don't have a reserved seat the trip is that short you can stand for an hour, even have a drink at the bar.......

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I saw that evening connections are quite a lot. I was mostly concerned about the Sunday evening thing, but on the other hand, it would be weird if thousands of mainland people spend the weekend in Ceuta, I guess.

Well, it could happen I suppose but not likely. Anyway the boats run pretty late in the evening so you shouldn't have any trouble at all.
Have a good trip.

If you are a walk on passenger there isn't a problem
If you are taking a car it would be advisable to book before hand.

Me and the boat!
by Christianne
The short trip to Ceuta was a nightmare for me. I had all the symptoms nausea.I couldn't even go to take a coffee. Next to us was a man saying prayer to God.I don't know why.He was probably afraid.
I was not afraid. I got on hundreds of times (since I was baby) on a boat.I don't know why it happened this to me.
When we took this picture I had already recovered.
Shopping!
by Christianne
Stroll around for shopping.Unfortunately, it was Saturday and the shops were closing at 15.00 o' clock. We didn't therefore have enough time for shopping.I only managed to buy a new walkman for my father, to stop him to use mine. I must say that in
Ceuta we found the best prices for mobile phones.
Parque Marítimo del Mediterráneo: Pools
by Redang
This complex was designed by César Manrique, and it was inaugurated in the summer of 1.995. It houses salt water pools, restaurants, bars, recreation area for children and a casino (if you want to risk your money in order to pay your holidays).
If you get bored (?), you can enjoy the ships coming in, coming out (last pic).
