Hotel Reconquista: Just Like Home...

I've stayed at the Reconquista several times. It's got a lot going for it. Probably one of the best features being that the staff are warm, kind, friendly - even when language causes an impasse! LOL!

I like that the parking is secure - even if it is kind of a pain in the butt to actually get to the parking garage. Well - kind of a pain in the butt to get both in and out - but, it would be impossible to find parking elsewhere, so it's nice that it's there, secure, and good access to the hotel.

The breakfast buffet is pretty typical Spanish fare - not a lot of protein there, but if you want a roll and coffee, it's there.

I'd definitely recommend the Reconquista to others. It's a nice place, friendly staff, good location, and very nicely priced.

Unique Quality: The rooms are good sized and comfortable. They have been in the process of remodeling them over the past several years. The older rooms don't yet have the hardwood flooring or little tech-friendly perks, but are just as nice. I particularly recommend the rooms that overlook Old Alcoi and have a little balcony.

The bathrooms are always great at the Reconquista, too. They're large, with lots of amenities, and lots of hot water!

The location is really quite good, as well. Just about five blocks from the Mall, the Central Market, etc. Some would consider it a little bit off of the beaten path - not as in the heart of the "new" revitalized Alcoy. However, one of the best things is that it's a short walk across the bridge from Old Alcoi.

Also a plus is the restaurant across the street - which is open hours that other restaurants are often not open (i.e, Monday nights, etc.).

AC Ciutat d'Alcoi: It's Pretty Nice...

The AC in Alcoy opened a couple of years ago - but this was the first time I've stayed there. We actually booked our accomodation online ahead of time - but walking in off the street is decidedly an option, as well. This hotel is largely used by business people and I doubt it's ever truly full. Well, maybe with the exception of during the Feast of the Moors and the Christians in April!

The public rooms in the AC are lovely. There's a great "family room" type location just off of the reception area that affords a beautiful view of the valley and old Alcoi. There are computers for internet access (you must pre-pay at the reception desk), TV, newspapers, and when the restaurant is closed - there is a refreshments area offering beverages and little tidbits to eat.

The rooms are good sized, the bathrooms are great. I loved that there was a hair dryer - I hate lugging mine along. The tub is huge and deep and hot water is plentiful - I've had stays in Spain that had one of those! The bed is comfortable, the TV a nice little plasma number, and a GREAT sound system in the room.

Unique Quality: I loved the parking accomodation here.

I think the thing that makes this an outstanding place to stay in Alcoy is it's location. It's right across the street from the Mall, it's in the heart of the "downtown" area with lots of shops and restaurants, and it's only a couple of blocks from the Central Market - and of course, twice weekly Open Air Market.

It is a little more expensive than the Reconquista, but location way makes up for the price difference.
