I recomend you to just park up somewhere near Calpe Rock and just take a walk around the rock.See both sides.Contrasting scenery .Walk along the nature reserve at the bottom of the rock and see and hear the protected birds flying around and enjoy the gardens that have been planted and enjoy the views along the coastline. The other side of the rock, Calpe promanade is not horrible. Its still pleasant but more built up.It nice taking a walk along the promanade. The beach right next to the rock the other side is the nicest.
All in all Calpe is very nice and i always go a few times when im on my hols in the area.It has lovely costal walks and great beaches and bays and plenty to see and do.A wonderful place for families and couples alike.
This place is stunning. We did not eat here but had some drinks. Its just before you get into Calpe along coastroad. You can park outside it but we walked along the coastpath and saw it and needed a break with a drink. You can also get to it from Calpe beach front as you just walk along the path about half a mile to get to it.It has great views along coast to Calpe rock. We had two drinks and they cost 5 euros.i had a glass of wine(of course) and hubby had a coffee. There was plenty of seating outside with a lower seating area and upstairs a higher area with great views. Also plenty of seating inside.Lots of people were eating and what they had looked pretty good.Next time we go out to Spain we will try a meal here.Staff were friendly and place was clean etc.
This was my first time staying in Spain. I went with a group of friends for some sport climbing. We stayed in Calpe where there are many routes within a few minutes drive. We flew into Alicante, which is a nice little ariport, but you could also use Valencia. I could only stay the weekend, but the weather was decent and I had 1 good, full day of climbs. I hope to update this next year, so it might prove more helpful.
I just love the rugged coastline of the North Costa Blanca. The mountains and valleys and rocky wild beaches. The crystal clear seas and hot long days.
Calpe has a wonderful sheltered harbour that over looks Calpe rock.It also has some classy bars and restaurants. It was wonderful walking around here Xmas time.
The beachbar i never made it to on the clifftop walk.I actually felt too ill to go and have a drink there. Now you know how ill i must of been then not to want to have a drink ;-(
The beach next to Calpe rock has some pretty nice palms on it.The beach here is so wild and beautiful and not many people use it which i like.
Look how quiet this beach is.Even in summer there are no more than a dozen people here and i think why as its very beautiful and peaceful and the water is well clear and blue.
This is the beach the other side of Calpe rock. This end is quiet and the other end along promenade is built up with large hotels. It was lovely and peaceful in December mind.
Cannot wait to get to sunny Spain yet again.Flight booked and am ready to pack.Im ready for a one way ticket.....

VISIT CALPE
A street in Calpe
I will be staying in Calpe in May, my friend who lives in Madrid will be travelling to Calpe to meet up. What is the best method of travel to Calpe from Alicante airport? Alternatively is there a train available from Madrid to Calpe via Alicante? Any advice would be appreciated xx
I have a feeling there is a bus that does the coastal route from Alicante to Benidorm, and possibly on to Calpe, there is also a train because my mum lives in Javea and she gets the train down to Alicante shops I'm sure. Okay, a bit vague, but it is worth doing a bit more delving as a cab would be pretty pricey I think!
thats great thank you i'll get on to researching that!
We are considering doing a home exchange in Calpe. We know nothing of the area. From the pictures we have seen it looks very nice, but possibly a little too modern/commercial for our tastes. That is OK as long as there are places we can drive to on short day trips where we can experience more historic and interesting places. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a preferred time of year to visit?
Thank you.

Hi, I think your exchanging home idea is a very good idea. But sometimes when you travel outside of the countries, would you meet any questions, like luanguage problem? If so, you may try Callyandi , 4006228227 / 86(020) 61294900 24 hours, any time any where.
calpe is very nice and has excellent beaches. you can drive to valencia (1 hour in the highway) which is a big city with a lot of things to do and see. maybe to elche too, which is much smaller but has some historic things like a sculpture called la dama de elche (which is tinny), and el palmeral (place with a lot of palm trees).
i hope you'll have a good time.
i forgot to mention that all there is calpe is the beach (some mountains around too), so try to go when the weather's good (may-september).
Hi
We have just booked flights to Alicante for the October school week and would like suggestions/recommendations on where to stay.
We would like to go somewhere in the Denia/Javea/Moraira area as we have never been there before.
Our kids are aged 7 and 11, we will be looking to rent an apartment and will have a hired car to get around.
Ideally we would like to be reasonably near a sandy beach and be able to walk to restaurants/cafes.
Thanks in advance
SB
hi, all those towns have nice sandy beaches. i prefer javea or calpe over moraira though. the thing is that im not sure whether you'll be able to swim in october, it might be rainny, and maybe not so warm. those places dont have many things to do other than going to the beach. i'd go for calpe, it's not far from valencia and if you have a car then that might be a good day-trip (or 2, or 3-day trip). though calpe, as well as the other cities at the sea, might be a bit empty in october.
