Help with our holiday address

by Jouval

Hi,
We are coming over soon and our holiday address is Urbanisation Monte Pedreguer, Pedreguer, Alicante. My Sat nav is up to date for Spain, however it just does not recognise this address. Can anyone suggest what I can try in my Sat Nav that will get us close to this area. Whilst here can anyone recommend a good market. We arrive on a Sat night and leave the following Fri.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dougie

wow that was quick Thankyou so much

Firstly it might help to spell it correctly (urbanizacion)!
Secondly, this is a restaurant in the area, http://costarestaurants.com/javea/monroes/index.html
It gives you the postcode 03750 Pedreguer and you could also try the road number CV732

Thanks for your help.Much appreciated. I spelt it that way as that is how it was written to me. I will however look up your suggestion.

Many thanks again.

Have looked at the restuarant. Looks rather nice too so will keep a note of it. Thanks again

Another idea may be to try your address in a different site - such as Michelin:
http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/gbr/tpl/hme/MaHomePage.htm

It also has a provision to tag restaurants - so you could also plug in the place you've discovered.

Now, sometimes after they have ... hmmm ... "improved" the site it gets a little confused, but it you can pull it up in Michelin and not on your sat nav, I would give the sat nav people a call.

Travel Tips for Alicante

Just by Benidorm you have...

by rla

Just by Benidorm you have Terra Mitica, a theme park based on the ancient civilazitions of the mediterranean sea like the romans, greeks, egyptians... In each zone you have different kinds of rides, shops, restaurants. It has just opened this summer 2000. Its worth visiting and having a look.

Gotta head towards Benidorm at least one night

by la_beba about Benidorm

One night I had the opportunity to go meet Manuel (Hosell) at the Hotel Rio Park where he works.... I think he was rather taken by surprise!!!! weren't ya Manuel? LOL.... but he was so nice and it was very neat to meet another VT member!!!!
Check out my Meeting Hosell Travelogue! for a couple of pics we took at Hotel Rio Park where he works

Castillo Santa Barbara

It's a cool place to hang out and enjoy the bird's-eye views of the city and the sea. Don't forget to bring your camera! There are also art expositions in some of the rooms, and sculptures scattered about. (See picture for examples) To get up to the castle, you can drive up a back road (don't remember the name) then park just outside the entrance. If you don't mind the exercise, you can always walk up the same road! I think most people take the elevator up though...which is exactly what I did! It's inside of this cave right across the street from Postiguet beach. If you're already at the beach, walk across the overpass which leads you right to the mouth of the cave. The elevator ride costs a few hundred pesetas. You'll need coins to purchase a ticket from the ticket machine inside the cave. I think the guy that operates the elevator may be able to provide you with some change if you need it...but he won't sell you at ticket!

The Town Hall

by Aitana

The present Town Hall was built in the 18th century in baroque style. The façade is decorated with barley-sugar columns. The two towers characterize this building. Inside, the Blue Hall belongs to the style of the Queen Isabel. Paintings of well known artists such as Padilla, Cabrera, Amorós and Gastón Castelló decorate the rooms.
The geographical elevation in Spain is measured from the reference point marked at the foot of the main staircase of the Town Hall, called “cota cero” (zero altitude).
In the pictures, the Town Hall is adorned for the Holy Week processions.

Cannonballproof Gothic Style

by gOdOtPm

The Church of Santa María was raised on the site of an arab mosque in the 14th century, in the gothic style, but with a barroque façade. Points to be remarked: its high altar (from the 18th century), its baptism fountain (from the 16th century) and its organ (dating from 1653). The recent restoration of the church gave place to the discovery old pieces of archaeology as antique vases and amphorae.

As a mere curiosity, if you walk around the building, you will find, on the side facing Postiguet beach, a few cannonballs that still resist embedded on the walls of the church.

Open everyday from 10.30 h to 1.00 h and from 6.00 h to 7.30 h. Free entrance.

From June to December 2006, there is an art exhibition about Christian Religion and tickets cost 3€
They are valid to enter the three monuments that host the exhibition: San Nicolás, Santa María and Santa Faz. The schedule also changed: open everyday from 10.00 h to 20.00 h
