Heavy rollers as we look at distant Alicante

Don't let business kill a way of life!
Hi. It would be so great to hear anyones experiences of gran alacant. It is about 15 mins drive south of the airport. Can you walk to the beach? Does it have some shops? Is it in the flight path? Does it have some culture? We have a j month year old and thinking of going there in October. Thank you so much for any comments. Rob.

You get a birds eye view of the place.
Not on the flightpath to Alicante airport.
Gran Alacant is on top of al hill, some 100 high. Not a good place to walk to the beach, unless you go to the area of Clot de Galvany, in the northern part (in this case, be careful with mosquitoes). Some of the houses are more than 3 km from the beach and you will have to walk up and down.
There are some shops and supermarkets.
No problem with the planes, the flight path is near Urbanova.
Culture? I you mean theater, museums, etc, you must go to Alicante or Elche.
Travel approximately 60 miles North of Alicante to visit the unspoilt town of Javea (Xabia). As you leave Alicante Airport, the humid air from the sierras mix with the warm breezes from the sea to create an idealistic atmosphere for relaxation and contemplation.
La isla de Tabarca is a small island which is hardly eleven miles from Alicante, but you will discover there a small fishermen village which was walled and still you can find remainings of its ancient walls. Now is one of the strongest spots for Alicante gastronomy

You cannot go wrong with this restaurant, situated in the heart of the commercial area of Alicante, and the excellent quality of all the ingredients used to prepare the most traditional dishes of the region.
Walking down from Santa Bárbara you pass a Restaurant with a big terrace. It was such a sunny day when we were there but the Restaurant was closed. Too bad.
On our way down we also saw this nice water fountain.
Many cactus lined the way down.
As I wrote on the page's intro,the harbout of Alicante is also one of most visited places in all the city.
In here you can take some boats to do some nice excursions along the coastline.If you have the chance during your days in Alicante,don't miss a excursion to TABARCA ISLAND,is a beautiful island very close to the coastline,the boat takes about 40 minutes to reach it.In that island you'll find also a very nice small beach.
Also you can take ferrys to go to northern Africa (Algeria) and also to Balearic islands.
In the harbour you can make also some courses normally during summertime about boating,scuba diving, etc.
