central alicante hotels: general info on hotels
This is a general tip, sorry, but I dont have time to do it all seperately. Its just a rough idea to help you!! there is a hotel called the hotel Gran Sol right on the rambla which is directly beside the old part of town which is one of the tallest buildings in Alicante. its only a few steps away from the explanada, the port, and the sea, with fantastic views and the best location!
there are also a number of hostels on the rambla, the calle mayor, and in el barrio (the old part of town itself), unfortunately I don´t know the names of any of them, but you can look them up on the internet, a hostel is normally called a pension over here, so put in pension alicante "rambla" or "casco antiguo" (old part of town) and you should find something.
The hotel melia is also handy as it is on the port which has a great area of
nightlife, its on the beach itself, and is opposite the explanada, the rambla and behind which is the old part of town, but it is a little more expensive, however it is a nice hotel with great facilities, and it has a fabulous spa mmmmm. enjoy!!
The hotel amerigo is just off the rambla and is a five star hotel in a fantastic location. Its got a pool on the roof and fantastic restaurants with the best chefs!! Really fabulous and luxureous, but it will cost you to stay there.
The hotel hesperia is on the Avenida Alfonso el Sabio which is also a great place to stay, its perpendicular to the rambla, right in front of the central market, and close to the theatre. Its a new hotel, however, I have no further information re food or prices. Great location.
Something for everyone!

Well there are a lot of Hotels...
Well there are a lot of Hotels in Benidorm. I read somewhere that Benidorm is the 3 rd citie in the wrold which had more rooms, after Paris as London.
I chose to stay for 8 nights, Gran Hotel Bali (4 stars).
I stayed also for more 2 nigts in Hotel Torre Dourada, a 3 star Hotel near Gran Bali.
At the bottom of the page, Hotel Gran Bali at night.
I payed in the periodo 20 to 28 of last June, room and all the meals included 48,50 € for person, but it was a promotion of the travel agency..directly in the Hotel the price is higher some the period of time.
For prices you should see the website of the Hotel.
It is the most original hotel on the Costa Blanca, distributed into two buildings one of which stands at 186 mts. high, the highest hotel in Spain, and the highest Hotel in Europe.
It has 776 rooms (very large rooms ), 12 of which are suites (2 luxury), 68 junior suites and 10 rooms prepared for the disabled.
It has 52 floors.
One tip: when you arrive at the recepcion, ask for a room as higher as possible. It have to be below floor 38 because rooms between floors 38 and 52 payed a suplement. I asked and they put me in floor 26..what a wonderful view..you could't imagine what is being so hight with nothing in front of you. When I have the photo that I took from the room, I will put here.
Are close to the beach and it's a very large Hotel. Have two panoramic lifts..it leaves you at floor 43 the view it's outstanding...don't forget to see the view at night too.
Some walls are made of glass..it's wonderful...and while you entering the reception..uauhhhhhhhhhhh......!!!!!!!
Has a waterfall in in the zone of the two pools..water falling from a huge shell....
You can see some phtos in my travelogue (in construction)

There are apartments and...
There are apartments and hotel's in Benidorm to suit everyone's budget. From 1/2* hotels to 5* luxuary villa's with their own pool.
I stayed at the Garden apartment a 5 minutes walk down hill from the town center. It was convinently located to everything, with own pool, most rooms had balconies and there was also a snackbar but no restaurant. It is quite cheap to eat out, so we sampled the cafes each morning to try out our spanish skills and try the local nosh.
I paid around £95.00 for a week in a 2 bedroom apartment with amenities in January where the weathered varied. I was even wearing shorts one day!

We spent 3 nights in hotel Palm Beach in Benidorm. It is a 4 stars hotel with a very good service, but it is situated far away from anything and on a hill.
The food is good, the rooms are nice and there is a nice swimming pool.

I do not put my heart & soul...
I do not put my heart & soul into this recommendation because A)the shower didn't work and B)there were weird bugs and strange old men.
But it was cheap (approx. £7/night) and 56 sec. away from the beach. IT IS CALLED : HOSTAL MAYOR
We rented a double room (crap bed, oh how crap) for 5000 pesetas. That is about £19, £8 each.
The staff speak English and French. I found that more people knew French than English around there.

We camped in Alicante near the beach (Muchavista). It is really nearby, the camp ground is clean, and seemed pretty safe. The camp ground also has spaces for RVs...
The restaurant has great food and the lady in there is really nice.
Oh, and the cranky front desk guy will bark at you when he asks you to leave your passport with him and if you ask for a receipt... hehehhe
I don't know if it was because we went when it wasn't peak season yet, but the beach was practically empty. We stayed far from the restaurants and other food joints, and there were almost no people around!

I loved this beautiful hotel. You'll probably not find this great guy there when you arrive, he's the one whose birthday we celebrated.

Hotel Tryp Sol
Being the capital of the Costa Blanca, Alicante has plenty of accomodation for all tastes and budgets. I recall our stay a few years ago in the Hotel Tryp Sol. This is a very tall building that immediately catches your attention when you look at the city´s skyline.
The hotel was built during the years where tourism was developping fast in Spain, according to the taste of that time. It was kept without remodellation for decades and, as we stayed there it was like going back into the late sixties. You could almost feel like an archeologist !
Rooms were very spacious. Actually they were appartments with even a complete kitchen and a living room. Having one of the upper floors guaratees a spectacular view of the city and the port.
I think the hotel has been finally remodelled in the recent years. Probably it offers more comfort now, but the views are still the same.

Tropicana gardens hotel, it...
Tropicana gardens hotel, it was lovely and we went all inclusive so it was even better, although we didn't take advantage of the unlimited food part of the deal, we all definatly made up for it with the unlimited amount of alcohol deal. We got plastered every night, and I discovered a new drink called a choctail, which consisted of baileys brandy and chocolate milk, mmmmmm. I lived off that it was tres scrummy.
bar staff were lovely, a bit flirty flirty but hey there spanish. Look out for Howie, cutie with goatie, and Marcus, they are lovely but sometimes too lovely.

The Villa Tranquila! Privately...
The Villa Tranquila! Privately hired villa.
The average price for the villa at high season is £905 (pounds sterling - $1500)
The villa is pure luxury. It sleeps eight with ease, and has two kitchens, three bathrooms (one of which is en-suite) and four double bedrooms. It has a large private garden with a separate barbecue area and its own swimming pool.
