Costa Blanca
Any ideas on where to go near(ish) to Alicante in May?
Not Benidorm-type place!Flying to Alicante and would like pleasant place without too many Brits or Germans.
Wife and I like Sitges kind of place, for culture and ambience rather than gay style.
Any recommendations would be most welcome.
4 or 5 * hotel preferred, but good apartment for 2 people would also be nice.
I would value your advice.

There are several nice places nearby Alicante. Around 40 kilometers to the north you have Altea, a nice village at the seaside with a beautiful downtown ar the top of a hill. Unluckily there lots of Brits, but the town deserves the trip. You have also Elche, 20 km south of Alicante. It's a city famous by its palm tree forests (indeed it is a World Heritage), and I think that you can spend a nice day there. I can recommend there hotels Milenio (3-4 stars) and Huerto del cura (4 stars).

We have decided to stay in Alicante for 2 nights and then the Sidi San Juan Hotel.
Do you know any nice restaurants (menu del dia is fine with us) near San Juan beach?
We will visit Altea as you suggest; it sounds worth a visit.

I have hear nice things about a tapas restaurante called "La Gamba", that is in San Blas, in the San Juan beach area.
I think that the trip to Altea is a good option. Enjoy it¡

please find the time to check out Denia and Calpe and Moraira, all very nice unspoilt places. Altea has amazing beaches and the Old town is worth looking at. Calpe is nice around harbour area and the Rock. Have a great trip

Am planning to get married in Alicante later this year and have narrowed hotel choices for the recption down to the following three

Hi Patrick. I have not been to a wedding reception in none of the hotels mentioned by you, however the Sidi hotel has a good reputation. Another hotel, that I would recommend is the Melia Alicante, jsust at the port. Cheers. Mahesh

Hi Pat,
Some time ago I attended a wedding in Sidi San Juan and it was very nice.
Last year I celebrated my own wedding in Hotel Melia, and I strongly recommend it. There are salons of different sizes, the environment is very nice, on the seashore, with wonderful views of the city. The staff is very professional, they also have a great variety of menus to choice. The one we chose was indeed good. The bridal suit was included, which was very comfortable for us, after the party. Another advantage, if the guests stay in Alicante: the hotel is very close to the city center.
Well, you see, we were really satisfied with the reception and so were our guests.

Many Thanks,Chose the Melia primarily for the reason's you mentioned. If Guest don't want to stay at Melia do you know of any decent hotels or pensions near the Port
