Great staff - fantastic with children

We really enjoyed our week at the Magic Villa de Benidorm. The hotel itself is in a great position - our room had a decent sea view which was great. All the staff, particularly in the restaurant were great - they couldn't have been nicer to our son, aged 5.

The choice of food was excellent, particularly the cold meats / seafood / salad bar. The luxury of having all drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) available to help yourself to was great - and both the beer and the wine were certainly drinkable !

The rooms were a decent size, a little bit dated, but perfectly serviceable (although a set of drawers would be useful - it's amazing how you miss them if you don't have them) but the only thing to let the hotel down was the disappointing bathroom - the shower was ancient and the bath tiling a good way past it's best. The cleaning was thorough and regular - no complaints there at all - fresh towels everyday if you requested them.

The outdoor areas around the pool were very presentable and kept clean - the childrens play area was very good and the indoor pool was a boon in chilly February.

We took advantage of the Magic passport scheme and visited a few of the other hotels - the Magic Rock Gardens had a great play area for kids and the Fenicia had a nice indoor pool as well. We found it very convenient to go up for a walk in the old town then head to the Fenicia for a drink and a rest before the trip back to the Villa de Benidorm.

All in all a great hotel, and I would happily recommend the hotel (as long as you don't rate a top class bathroom as a priority) and can honestly say that the hotel staff were the best that we have encountered in Spain.

Perfect holiday

Didn't really know what to expect from Benidorm but loved it so much am already planning my next trip. Room fine (and I slept on the sofa bed) though it might be worth paying extra to get a pool view as someone told me the rooms on the front were quite noisy. Food was superb, though there can be queues if you go late in the sitting. Location excellent for the gorgeous Levante beach and shops etc. Loved the hotel entertainer, Eddie (Penny Arcade). As for the Magic thing of visiting the other hotels I wouldn't bother as we went to one in the old town which was grim and other people told us the others weren't as good as ours. The Medieval night is hideous unless you have small children. The service and food are the worst I have ever experienced. If you must go eat before you do as you will get served pigswill! Overall the Villa de Benidorm was great. We were lucky enough to get one of the few balconies which was a big bonus. Oh, and make sure to take mosquito repellent as there were a lot of mosquitoes in the rooms and some people got badly bitten. Apparently the maid has a spray if you ask.

what a week

well what can i say ist impression was ok good location and the staff very friendly couldn't fault it, until we went to the room. on the 5th floor pool side room ok bed like sleeping on a board very uncomfortable. asked reception if he could change it no problem but never did. next morning my partner covered in bits so the rest of the week we were as others on the pool side of the hotels were being eated alive by moz,s no sleep and covered in bites what a holiday

OK, but some problems

by A TripAdvisor Member

We just got back from Benidorm yesterday.

Hotel is in a perfect location. Close to the beach, shops, restaurants, pubs, bars – just a walking distance away.
The town centre is a good place to go shopping – some good shops around there for clothes, shoes, souvenirs etc….

I was quite disappointed with the room when I first arrived. They only have one double bed in the whole hotel, so my partner and I had to share a twin room. There was a huge wardrobe with lots of space, but they were lacking drawers, one of the channels on TV channels had no sound, the toilet kept on making a noise and was flushing on its own, also, the floor could have done with a bit of cleaning when we first arrived too.

The hotel staff were helpful and friendly at reception, at the bar and the restaurant.

We had booked all inclusive, whereby we had breakfast lunch and dinner and free drinks for the whole holiday. The food was very good – a very big selection of food for all meals and they catered for everyone. The all inclusive drinks were good too the beer and wine were drinkable, however, the local spirits and cocktails were not very tasty!

Overall a nice little break in the sun over the bank holiday weekend!

Did not live up to rating

Booked this hotel due to it being rated No 1 at the time
Rooms were ok and most of the staff friendly
Food was poor though ,what the chef could not do with tuna fish was nobody's business
You need to go down for your meals early 7pm or all the best things are gone and replaced with (yes you've guessed it Tuna )
One nignt 2010 hrs all potatoes had gone and were not replaced so it was chips
Most nights menu did not resemble what was actually available
Soup's tasted like they had just added water to dehydrated packets, the same can be said of the orange juice (very weak )
On the positive side all drinks were free in the resaurant even though we were only half board
Also after midnight it was a free bar whether you were all inclusive half board or bed and breakfast
or not staying at the hotel at all, as there was no one there to supervise
Entertainment was very poor and not what you expect from a 3 star hotel
Pools were kept nice and clean, however there seemed to be a shortage of staff in all area's
Tables remained uncleared in the bar, pool and outdoor area,s for hours
The restauranT manager was the only person on duty one night and had to clear and reset all the tables on his own

My partner required medical treatment for an insect bite that had become infected but the person on the reception desk had no idea where the nearest hospital was even though ( as we found out later ) was only 200-300 metres up the road
Location of this hotel is it,s strong point as you do not have to walk far for anything
However you should be aware that pickpockets and thieves operate close to the hotel we know of a mugging an attempted bag snatch and a purse being taken during our week long stay so be vigilent at all times.

space divided

I stayed there with my two teenage grand children, they loved it! The dining room got a bit busy on check-in days with the odd queue but timing sorted that out .The food was well cooked and HOT 90% of the time,a good variety and plenty of it.Our room was very spacious and although in the heart of a lot of the night life it did not disturb us, and I am a very light sleeper! As a disabled guest the staff were considerate and attentive to my needs,Having a fridge in the bedroom was a bonus as all the other hotels I have stayed in charge for the privilege and not cheaply either. We would certainly go again (if the pool gets too busy go up on the roof TANFASTIC)

I Loved It
