Some information

Coming to Benidrom for Easter for the first time, I would like to know some good tips without stepping in tourist traps. So what are the places you would recommend to go to. What are the best clubs and bars with the coolest music!

Thanks,

Previous poster is right, I am afraid.

While you'll be there, why not visiting more interesting places in the neighbourhood? Such as the theme parc Terra Mitica. Check out the website, so you'll see it's very beautiful. From this location you'll be able to take a photo of the skyline of Benidorm. Big deal!
Also the castle of Guadalest and the Fonts d'Algar are nice to visit. The last one is a serial of falls. Take your swimsuit with you. A dive under the waterfalls feels great! I guess there are jeep tours from Benidorm towards these two must sees. Too bad it are the only places around worth a visit. Still, don't be surprised when you need to find a place to park your car... it's a tourist trap as well.

Oh yes... another warning: don't visit my suggestions during high season!

you won't win against the potato man! thats for sure - they are all over the place - and you place a bet against finding a peanut under a half potato - sounds daft!! but you're in the holiday mood and i've watch HUNDREDS of people fall for it - coz there is no warning some people!

watch out for pick pockets - sales people - "lucky" scratch cards - spiked drinks - dodgy spirits in some bars (more like rocket fuel than alcohol) - watch your bags on the beach.. the usual!!

it gets hot over here - so get your cream on!

don't put too much money in the phone boxes either - they put metal gadgets in to stop any unused coins coming out - try a 1 cent first - if it doesn't fall through - try another call box!

best drink is in cafe benidorm - most unlikely place to get spiked in the square (WILL NOT mention what places sell rocket fuel - but the cafe benidorm is the ONLY place I drink alcohol in - in the square area). better entertainment can be found elsewhere - but stick to coca cola!!

Travel Tips for Benidorm

Soraya and Maria Jesus

by benidormone about Arenas

During the daytime live music for old people. At night drag show with the famous Soraya and accordeon music with Maria Jesus. Strange combination but it seems to work. If you don't understand a word of Spanish it can be boring. Because between dress changes they always tell lots of Spanish jokes. But if you are there for the first time you will enjoy the show. Anything goes.

"I see only 1 reason to visit this ugly town..."

Benidorm. Doesn't it looks a bit as New York? Or as Kuala Lumpur?
I have to admit that the skyline of Benidorm is quite impressive. Beautiful from far away, but far away from beautiful.
Some people like this town, others hate it.
No nature there, no scenery, only high, very high buildings, crowds and lots of noise at night.

However, Benidorm is very popular with elderly North European people who like to hibernate with a mild climate.
If you like the real Spain, then stay away from here, where restaurant waiters talk to you in your own language, even if this language is Dutch.

Just spent 2 days in the area to visit the wonderful Roman Theme Park "Terra Mitica". A must do!

If you visit Terra Mitica at Eastern, the park will be almost deserted. In July and August it is mostly crowded with long queues for the thrill rides. Luckily the park is immence and the Roman and Egyptian decors look wonderfully authentic. There is enough to see and to do without getting bored.

Some passageways are semi-covered to protect the visitors from the sun. White and sand colors are dominating here. Don't forget your sun glasses and suntan oil!

One minus: Most of the shows are pretty boring. Those Spanish actors talk talk talk... while nothing happens. Some shows are even ridiculous. Waiting 30 minutes or more to catch a cold is certainly not worth it...
