From Alicante Airport to Calpe?

by haleysmith

Could anyone please advise me what is the cheapest way to get from Alicante Airport to Calpe? I have been advised that a taxi would be about 70 euros which will eat a lot from my budget. Thank you so much for any help offered.

My parents have used the train several times. It is a much cheaper option.

First, be sure that you fly to Alicante-El Altet (ALC). Sometimes, San Javier airport (MSJ), at Murcia, is called "Alicante Sur".

There is a bus from the airport to Benidorm (45'), there you can take the train to Calpe.

Otherwise, from Alicante airport you can take bus C-6 to the city center (30'). Ask the driver for the stop closest to the Mercado. There is an underground tram station. Take the tram from Alicante to Benidorm (50'), there you wait for 6' and take a train to Calpe. This way is longer but the train departs from the same station as the tram arrives.

Travel Tips for Calpe

Moorish influence

by rachel_sun

Valencia has a strong arab influence from the Moorish rule most dishes contain rice.My favourite dish has to be meat paella which has rice, beans, garlic, chicken and other veggies and is lovely with lemon squeezed over it.Ive also tried the seafood one but prefer the meat paella.Valencia region has many dishes which include rice and in Alicante they make paella a la alicantina which has seafood in it.You can also get a dish called paella alicantina that has chicken and rabbit in which i found delicious.
In Elche a dish called hidden treasure is a must try too.It has sausages, black pudding,chick-peas and pork meat balls in it and i really liked it.This has a crust over it made by beaten eggs.
In Tabarca you can get rice cooked in squid ink.Ive not tried this yet.I think this is the dish ive seen called black rice and must try it sometime.

I had a paella meal for 8 euros and you have to have a minimum of two people order it as its bought out in a big dish.
