Dressed up!
by pablito-uk
Whilst during the Festival of Fires I took this photo of one of the girls in the parade on the final day. My Mama and I sat by the side of the street for about three hours watching the processions from all the twelve districts pass by.
With virtually all the town dressed up or playing in the band the atmosphere was incredible. Everyone was happy and proud to be a part of this big day in Denia's calendar. This picture sticks in my mind more than anything else from that holiday.
I think it was engrained on my soul like the image is engrained on the negative.
Great German menu
by Wendy-H about Bar Danun
Very tasty authentic German food. Good location on main road. Very nice to sit outside on a sunny day.
All the food was well cooked and presented.
Denia has a large German population. this is the first German restaurant we have tried and would definitely go again.
As with all restaurants in Spain - dogs are welcome!! This was our first visit. we tried the Menu del Dia. (spanish for menu of the day)
We had a thick soup to start, it had cabbage and ham in it. Very tasty and filling.
The main course was potatoes, a creamy cabbage dish and sausages. It was very good.
the dessert was a creme caramel type. Im not sure of the exact names of these dishes as we were the only English people there and the waitress didnt speak very good english.
Only fault was the menu was only in German, and as we dont speak any german we had to guess what the items were!
South beaches are rocky
by rachel_sun
La Almadraba is the only rocky beach to the north of Denia. This is where people do Octopus fishing.I really enjoyed walking along the south beaches as it was so peaceful. There are not any shops along the prom(south- past port) or anywhere to eat and i supose that's why it stays quiet as most people prefer the north beaches and beaches the other side of the port as there are places to eat and drink etc.The walk takes you along the prom for about one mile and then onto gravel and then onto a road that runs along the sea. There are small one story houses hanging on the cliffs and then a restuarant that looks more greek than Spanish.Hellios bar- rest had wonderful views and it had some Octopus hanging out to dry. This area was really beautiful. The food was really good. This place was popular with local people. The seating was right on the edge of the small cliff. If you carry on walking you reach another restuarant which was very nice and done great paella and then the road carries on about another 5 minutes to a dead end. This part of Denia is the place to go for relaxing and get away from it all.It was stunning. All in all the walk from the car park( free parking) just past port to the end of the road was about a mile and a half each way.I really enjoyed it.Next time i am going to take a picnic and go for the day. There are benches along the way and garden areas and places to find shade. The beach runs the entire length of the walk. The beach next to Hellios is rocky and had good rock pools etc.
