Valencian baked vegetables
Another dish i cannot get enough of is the baked Vegetables .They are the most tastest thing ive ever eaten.Ive tried them at various restuarants but they were the best at El Port in Denia. They are baked in the oven with olive oil, garlic and a dash of salt. They have so much flavour and i could eat this dish every day.Every time its done to perfection. It is a starter but as its a huge dish we order one and share it as a starter .You could order one and eat it as a main meal as its so tasty and filling. It cost 6 euros at El Port Restuarant Everytime i goto El Port i have to have my baked veggies. But next time i will try something else as im sure their other dishes are as good.I had a baked vegetable plate and then a paella with a nice bottle of local red wine the day after boxing day and it was fantastic. The whole meal including bread and coffee was £12 a head.I think this restaurant is very good value and the food is always very good and the prices are exellent
Mountains around Denia.
I really enjoyed going up the Montgo mountain viewpoint as the views were very beautiful and it was peaceful too.The drive up from Denia took about 15 minutes and as we drove up the views were very good.As you reach the top the road levels out and there are several places you can pull off.You can park up and walk to the edge and see the views along the coast. The Montgo mountain is very beautiful and green and even in December there were flowers out.Broom was in flower and there were lots of wild flowers too.The view point is a popular place and i can see why as it was so scenic. We went up here 3 times during our hol as it was so scenic.
From the viewpoint we could see Javea which is about 8kms from Denia.Javea has a lovely harbour and nice historic centre and you can still see parts of old fortifications that were once used to protect the town from invasions.Historic Javea has beautiful small winding streets and I loved walking along admiring the old houses that still stand today. The coastline around Javea is breathtaking and is again rocky and rugged and well worth looking at.Im not keen on the tourist part of Javea and tend to stick to the harbour and old town.
If you want to find coves that no one else will be at then goto Cape le Nao and Granadella Beach. Here I enjoyed the beautiful pine trees.South of Cape San Martin there is a great coatline that is quiet and scenic and we always go here.We quite often find our own private little cove with not a person in sight
