Learn the lingo
by Wendy-H
Try and learn the language. It really will help even if its only the basics.
As Denia is not a really busy tourist resort for the British, there are a lot of places and situations where you do need to learn a little of the language. So do a course, listen to tapes, look on the internet or just buy a phrase book. It really is appreciated that you have taken the time, and also there will be times when the person you are speaking to just doesnt speak English - you are in Spain after all!
Learn the numbers, how to ask for things, to ask for the bill, say please and thank you. Just give it a go! Being part of a different country and culture.
El Port

El Port is a fabulous restaurant located along Denia seafront. You can sit outside or inside and the menu is extensive. They do a fantastic paella and a beautiful grilled med veg plate. We had a grilled vegg plate and paella for two and a bottle of nice red wine for £30 for two people.Husband also had a coke and a cappicino. So for £15 a head we had a wonderful meal.We went back several times as the service, food and atmosphere was exellent. Paella was simply delicious. The grilled med veg plate with olive oil was superb.
Contrasting beaches.

Denia is set in a beautiful location.Beautiful green valleys and fields inland and rugged coastlines and stunning mountains.Denia is ideal for a family holiday destination as it is open all year and has miles and miles of sandy beaches. You can find long sandy beaches and rugged rocky coves. You can walk along in the south and find your own little private hidden cove.In the north, beaches such as Les Marines,Les Deveses (where my house is), Les Bassetes,Les Bovetes and Els Molins Bay are all flat and sandy or pebbley. Here there are plenty of places to eat and drink and this is where hotels and apartments are.
Going south past Denia port the coast changes. The water here is deep blue and the coastline is rugged and very unspoilt and quiet.El Gosset,Les Arenetes are some of these. You can park up just past Denia port and walk along a really long promenade south. The beach is sandy here and you have impressive views back into Denia and can see the castle over looking the town. The further you walk the beach slowly turns rocky and rugged. There are two nice places to eat along here too.Overlooking the sea.You can sit and watch ferries leave Denia port heading to the Canary Islands.
