Feria de Mayo
by barbskie
A spectacular fiesta of Sevillanas music and dance, held in the fairground area within Torrevieja's harbour. An annual festival which starts (the first day) as fishermen offer the traditional "pescaditos" (fish) to passers by.
The following evening, the Mayor declares the opening of the event followed by a great firework display.
The last day starts with a mass followed by a parade with floats and horses which begins from the church area. Music, dance and horse exhibitions continue throughout the day. Men, women and children are wearing their beautiful costumes untiringly performing their typical dance. This one week fiesta ends at midnight, again with a magnificent fireworks.
go for a walk or jog

A wonderful area for hobby athletes. Jogging, running or walking here in the morning is the best time of the day. A stroll in the evening, offers you the highlighted skyline of the town and the gentle breeze from the mediterranian seas.
A visit in Torrevieja in December.

The area around Alicante and Torrevieja is very well known for their production of salt. As I heard, this region produces 90% of the needs of salt for Europe. Unfourtunatly, I can not verify the figure.
Every year they build a huge Christmas Crib in the center of town. It always has connections to Torrevieja itself, as the old tower (Torre = tower vieja = old) and the producton of salt is mentioned in the crib.

"Torrevieja!"
This page is about Torrevieja, ( una ciudad muy bonita, me parece..) About a year ago my parents bought an apartment , close to the centrum of Torrevieja: cerca de Playa de Los Locos. In the summer 2002, me and my family and my best friend spend 3 lovely weeks here. We had such a great time! The nightlife in Torrevieja is incredible in the summer!! One word: PACHÁ!! :)
