La Peineta (The Comb)
The bride what Valencians called “The Comb” is made by architector S.Calatrava. The form of the bridge reminds comb. I fond of modern architectonic constructions and this bridge is my favourite in Valencia.

Hi there,
Me and 3 friends are staying in Valencia for a week in August. We've hired an apartment in Calle de Emilio Baro. First off, anyone know what the area is like and if it is easy to get to the centre and nightlife and beaches from there?
Then I've got a few more questions for you guys (hope you can help, been googling for ages but not very useful tbh):
- What are the prices like at restaurants? I like eating out as much as I can, but being a student my cashflow doesn't always allow it! And are the drinks in clubs etc expensive?
- We are there from 7-14 August, is there any chance at all Valencia FC might be playing pre-season games by then or maybe even be able to attend a training session?
- Is there a strip club (not been able to find anything about that anywhere on t'internet!)?
- What are the prices of alcoholic drinks (I know cigarettes are cheap), is it cheap or will it be a good idea to buy a few bottles from the airport tax-free? example: litre bottle of Jagermesiter in Holland costs about 20 euro's I think...I've heard Spain is quite cheap for stuff like alcohol but would want to know for sure!
Thanks in advance,
Tom
cheers for that, hadn't thought op searching the adress on google earth yet
See my Valencia pages for tips on the restaurant. We found a great tapas place where tapas were for 1E and 1.50E After few tapas and few canas (1E-cana) you are really full. And choice of food is really big.
Thanks a bunch guys. All very helpful!

Every year around mid february when the Fallas are just around the corner - the Exposición del Ninot is innaugurated. There is a representation of a figure, from practically all the fallas of the city with the hope of being saved by the flames on the 19th of Marcha the big day , when all the fallas are consumed by the fire. This exposition is normally held in the esplanade of the shopping center called Nuevo centro, where they are shown to the public, from where the " ninot indultat " the figure that is saved.
This year 2007 is the year of the Americas Cup in Valencia and therefore is one of the main themes of the fallas.
Valencia has been recently (Summer 2007) confirmed as a Formula one city which will be on a urban circuit that is been specially designed and constructed. However Valencia also counts with a proper racing circuit which is situated aprox. 30 Kilometres from the city on the highway to Madrid in a locality called CHESTE.
This circuit in Cheste named after local Valenciano Motorcycling champion Ricardo Tormo was completed in 1999 and normally holds host to the last race in the world motorcycle racing championships around the month of November, every year. This make the Cheste circuit a very interesting one to visit for the races specially if the championship in certain racing categories are still to be decided - in the last race. The capacity of this circuit is for aprox. 150.000 people all seated in a way to be able to see practically the whole track and not missing a single detail of any race.
The track which is a little over 4 kilometres attracts huge crowds every year who create a really special atmosphere in the city of Valencia and specially in Cheste on the days of the races. A mixture of roaring cylinders, added to the local attraction of fireworks, paella, sangria and great weather are the other ingredients that help make this event a very special one.
It is normally very difficult to get hotel reservations around the dates of the racing calendar hence if you are interested in visiting Valencia for the races or just to enjoy a city break - make your plans well in advance. THE 2007 MOTORCYCLE RACING CALENDAR

Covering an area of over 8.000 square metres, this iron structure, which has just become 75 years old, is said to be one of Europe's biggest food halls in Europe. The building alone is already impressive for its architecture but the food on display is, in general terms, of the best quality: fresh fish and sea food, Serrano ham, all kinds of fruit and vegetables, meats...
If you live in Central Valencia, this is one of the best places to buy your fresh food, although the opening hours are definitely not as convenient as the supermarkets at the Corte Inglés.
This is the place you will arrive at if you come by train from Madrid.
Besides that is a very nice building with modernistic designs that really deserves a visit.
